Nokia N900 Review and Problems: Consumer Opinions

The Nokia N900 smartphone has been available for a while now and is the first Nokia handset to run the Maemo platform, and is probably the most talked about smartphone in Nokia’s N series, and we’d love to hear from our reader about their experienced with the Nokia N900.

Spec wise the Nokia N900 packs quad-band GSM/EDGE, tri-band WCDMA/3G with a Arm Cortex-A8 600 MHz processor, 3.5 inch resistive touch screen, Maemo 5 operating system, 5 megapixel camera with 16:9 video recording and dual LED flash, slide out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, WiFi, 32GB memory which is expandable via microSD and a 3.5mm jack.

Not to say that the Nokia N900 isn’t a good smartphone but in the past it has seen some issues such as charger faults not being covered by the Nokia N900 warranty, along with some slider problems, and USB port issues, but overall the problems haven’t been that drastic.

What we would like to know is our reader’s opinions of the Nokia N900 smartphone is they own one, how they have found the Maemo operating system, is it good, great or bad. Have you experienced any major issues, or do you simply love the device. Whatever your opinion on the Nokia N900 we’d like to hear them so feel free to drop us your reviews and problems in our comments area below, thanks.

good day i have have the n900 for the last 2 months but i have only used it for the first 3 week of having it and yes i think its a good phone if you don't want an iphone like the rest of the world but then i started to have some softwear problems i could not send emails or mms so i took it back to where i got it from and they could not help they kept saying it a new phone and there is no info out about the phone so i then took it to the nokia shop and they said its a softwear problem they took my phone and said come back in a week so i went back and they said they can't fix it so they are going to send it back to nokia and that will take 2 weeks to get it back

i have had this phone for 6 months and it has been a great handset with more features than any other smart phone out there at the moment. things like a built in fm transmitter and an open infra red port that you could use to control your tv or digibox or anything infrared 🙂 the fm transmitter works great allowing me to play all my digital music through my car stereo with ease. the screen resolution is extremely high giving a crisp and pin sharp veiwing experience. and the slide out keyboard is very well designed for its size and is easy to use. the only gripe i have is that it doesnt natively support mms but you can download a program called fmms to get it to work. overall a great handset with tons of features and tons of built in storage too 32gb nice. 🙂

i have had this phone for about 6 months now and so far have had few problems. it is great for organising my life and great for internet use. the photos are fab but there is no pause on the video function like the other n series phones. also there is no easy instruction manual, its all online and doesnt cover everything, either that or its too difficult to find whatmyou're looking for. The only problems i have been experiencing lately is that the signals disappear usually in the afternoons which is bizaar and so i have to shut it down and start up again (like rebooting a pc). also i have a message popping up saying my pop server is incorrect for hotmail (which i dont understand) and cant get rid of the message although i can use my hotmail. Also i cannot send or receive picture messages. i hav taken it back to carphone warehouse who tried to send me the text message to receive them (via t-mobile) but never got the follow up message then could i find the link to resend the message again on the t-mobile website myself? not a chance! apart from this the phone is great so can anyone help with my problems?

great phone. a little thicker than i'd like. processor is faster though than my old unlocked touch screen phones. simple to use, texting and web browsing is good. my partner loves it for the gps and the wifi and my family loves their unlocked at&t phones for the facebook and games. speaker is really loud and it hooks up to my computer simply. also the camera and recorder are great. got our last couple unlocked cheap phones at gsmauthority.com 2 thumbs way up
