Update: iPhone 4G Sinking as HTC EVO 4G Commands In Popularity Poll

You may be aware that we have been running a poll on which smartphone you would prefer and have given the options of the iPhone 4G, HTC EVO 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible, the Droid Incredible being the only handset available currently, but we wanted to find out which of the handset people would like to own.

The original post had the iPhone 4G take an early lead as the most popular device, with the HTC EVO coming second and the Droid Incredible taking last place even though it is the only device available to date. The poll is still active if you wish to add your vote (here)

I updated a couple of days later when I noticed that the HTC EVO 4G had overtaken the iPhone 4G in popularity, and now after checking again, the poll shows that the HTC EVO 4G has taken a huge commanding lead over both the iPhone 4G and HTC Droid Incredible.

So here’s the latest results in that poll, the HTC EVO 4G strides into first place with 60% of the vote at 1136 votes, the iPhone 4G holds onto second place with 21% of the vote at 405 votes, and the HTC Droid Incredible still lags behind with 14% of the vote at 260 votes…makes one wonder what all the hype was about with the Droid Incredible doesn’t it?

76 votes, or 4% aren’t sure, while 11 votes or 1% don;t care; the total votes cast to date is 1,888.

    I have voted for the EVO as I have already placed my preorder however I have noticed at least one flaw in your poll. While you are asking who would like to own you must also take into account how many ALREADY own an incredible. Then I also suggest running the vote through June 7 after Mr. Jobs announces all the specs surrounding the iPhone. While we know a bit we do not know all the specs surrounding it and you may see a drastic change in the vote post announcement.

    I think the voting is distorted by people voting who are tech freaks… I live in Thailand and though you can buy anything here the reality is tech specs do not count… image is number 1, functionality number 2… everyone buying a smart phone here buys an iPhone or Blackberry… the rest are just not cool. My girl friend being faced with the need to purchase a new phone after throwing her Samsung in the washing machine with her clothes went straight for an iPhone, partly because I have one and partly because her friends told her to get a BB. I asked her if she wanted to have a look at HTC or others, she said no, they are ugly and anyway who has one? I just want my email, MSN, play games and surf the net when I need to.

      So what's so cool about the iphone? what does it do that other phones don't? I love comments like this because you have no hardcore facts as to why? iphone users just sound like a cult. Other phones are ugly. I like iphone's ease of use. (that is a stock answer). "I just want my email, MSN, play games a and surf the net when I need to.". so why do you brag about an outdated phone and when people call you on it you say you just need basic functions? that makes no sense. Open up your mind and don't get left behind, because that's the direction you're headed.
