HTC EVO 4G Is It The Real iPhone Killer?

Let’s face it the “iPhone killer” smartphone has been sort after for quite some time with many devices hitting the market being tagged as the iPhone killer, and all failing, but there is a new smartphone that hits the shelves as of the 4th of June that could well stand up and snatch that “king of smartphones” title from the iPhone and become the first credible iPhone killer.

I am of course speaking about the new HTC EVO 4G, the first smartphone that not only can do 3G but also surf the 4G WiMAX waves as well. Although the device isn’t available just yet it has seen immense coverage on the net, and as our current poll shows, the HTC EVO 4G is currently wiping the floor with the upcoming iPhone 4G in the popularity stakes. We will continue to let the poll run if you wish to add your vote and views and can do so (here)

It will be interesting to see if once the iPhone 4G makes an appearance at WWDC 2010 if the vote swings round to place the next generation iPhone back in the top position in popularity, but we will see.

Spec wise what do these two giants offer, well the upcoming iPhone 4G reportedly will pack a 3.5 inch LED backlit widescreen display with multi-touch whiles the HTC EVO 4G offers a 4.3 capacitive display with pinch and zoom and tactile feedback. The iPhone 4G offers a 5 megapixel camera and 2 megapixel front facing camera, while the HTC EVO 4G offers an 8 megapixel camera and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, also both offer 720p HD video.

The iPhone 4G presumably offers WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Digital compass, and so does the HTC EVO 4G. So far both smartphones roughly come out the same, but its in the networks where the big difference is; while the iPhone 4G can only run on a 3G network, and AT&T’s poor network at that, the HTC EVO can run on Sprint’s 3G and Clearwire’s WiMAX 4G which leaves the iPhone 4G lacking as if the next generation device can’t run on a 4G network it’s not really moving forward but staying stagnant while the HTC EVO 4G has already taken the next step in future smartphones, and thus become the real iPhone killer.

Anyway there’s what I think, so what do you think could the HTC EVO 4G finally be the real deal when it comes to that illusive iPhone killer device, feel free to drop us your views in our comments area below.

Hypothetically- You have both phones in your hands and they can work on any network. Which PHONE do you chose?

In my case – I get NO signal from Sprint within 1/2 mile radius of my house….And as for as 4G in June 2010 it is very limited in the US and only slightly faster in real world experience.

Notice when new Android Phones come out they instantly become the next iPhone killer. Motorola Droid, Nexus One and Droid Incredible…none of them have killed the iPhone and no Droid Phone will (IMHO).

  3. Android are certainly starting to kick arse with the help of HTC.

Depending on what Steve Jobs announces on Monday could mean I finally move over to Android from my iphone 3g….

The screen on this thing looks awesome but I'm a bit concerned about battery with that screen and a 1GB processor!
