iPhone 4 Shows Up at FCC with 5 Bands of 3G

Well as Apple has now completed the big reveal of their latest iPhone, the iPhone 4, it’s not too surprising that the device should show up at the FCC although apparently any documentation has been kept under wraps until now.

However, doing their usual snooping of the FCC, Vladislav Savov of Engadget has posted what he found floating around the FCC to do with the new iPhone 4, which apparently carries the model number A1332.

The FCC document also reveals that the iPhone 4 is the second pentaband device, the other being the Nokia N8. Pentaband devices sport 5 bands of 3G internet compatibility, UMTS I/ II/ VI/ VIII, although apparently the iPhone 4 spec sheet does omit the 800 MHz band VI.

The 800 MHz band is commonly use in Japan, so no doubt the speculation will begin that the iPhone 4 may not be destined for play in Japanese hands, but no doubt we’ll find out sooner or later.
