Apple Online Store Problems Since iPhone 4 Pre-order Update

Well today is iPhone 4 pre-order day but there seems to be some problems occurring with the iPhone 4 pre-order update on the Apple Online Store. Earlier we mentioned that the Apple site was down being updated, which you can read (here).

Now this could be due to an inordinate number of iPhone 4 hopefuls wanting to get in first when pre-ordering the new iPhone 4 from the Apple Online Store but the site seems to be suffering from some lag and is taking a while to load, and checking on the website although it does take a little time you do eventually work your way through.

Of note also reported earlier was that the iPhone 4 white will not be available on launch day, see (here) and this seems to be confirmed on the Apple Online Store as they have the iPhone 4 white unavailable for pre-order or in store pickup at this time.

So how are things going for our readership? Have you managed to pre-order your iPhone 4 or are you facing difficulties such as the site moving really slow or not loading at all? If so feel free to let us know by dropping us your comment in the area below.

    i was supposed to be eligible for the 399 upgrade and it told me id have to pay 599 so i was going to try again and now the store site is down

    I tried since 4:30 am and at first it said that it was checking my records but got hung up there and now at 7:14 am still says some lame error updating the apple store and to call Apple. You can not do that since it is not open until 8AM Eastern time. It seems like a huge mess.

    9.00am Uk time site was up for maintenance.
    Tried every few minutes for 3 hours, let me choose iphone and add to basket, then would not refresh and page was unavailable.

    What a load of hype and bullshit, its only a fuckin phone at the end of the day.

    ive tried ordering on apple and at&t site bout of qhich are suffering from the masses that are trying to order i am now on hold with apple try to get it over the phone

    It seems that when Apple sends my AT&T account info to the AT&T server to prove I'm an existing customer I get an error. I've tried to order both from apple and AT&T and neither site is working. As of a few moments ago, AT&T had removed the "iPhone4 preorder now" icon from their page- not that it matters anyway, because when I clicked it, I was shown a list of 3g & 3gs phones and no 4s.

    Still having problems. Saying it times out due to "inactivity" (while I wait for it to process the information I just gave it) and similar nonsense errors.
    No doubt apple will spin this as "tremendous interest crashes site" when it's a failure on planning and preparation on their part.

    I've been trying to order mine since 7:30 A.M. (Central Time) and I haven't gotten very far. The Apple Store is constantly giving me these ridiculous errors and is really slow. This is really disappointing…

    Their site was finished being updated between 12:40 and 1:30 AM pacific time, the page took forever to load…. most times I tried it just never loaded, or it said that my session had expired. I woke up and tried again at 5:30, then now. One time it got to a page where it told me to make an appt. on one side, and that their sorry on the other side. Really wish I hadnt set my alarm clock 6 times to deal with this shitola.

    I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
    Cry, because I can't pre order my new iphone.
    Or laugh with joy, because my Apple stock is likely to jump again, if this server meltdown is due to so many people buying the new 4G phone. LOL

    I share everyone's frustration. I have been trying since 4:30 AM ET. I know it is just a phone, but my son and I have been counting down the days and what was supposed to be exciting has just turned into disappointment. So Apple can build such an advanced smartphone and can't build a website? I find it odd both AT&T and Apple sites are down, I can't imagine it is due solely to traffic. I am waiting to hear from someone, anyone that has successfully pre ordered one – I have yet to hear… Anyone??

    I tried the Apple site several times early this morning only to time out in various steps of ordering the iPhone 4. I finally logged into the AT&T site and ordered it there.

    I've been trying to order two upgrades since 4am (EST) its not 12:35 (EST) and still can't get my order to go through! First I got on got half way through the process and then got booted. Then the Apple Site was down. Now its back up and running but still keep getting booted out! UGH Frustrating. WHY isn't the white version available and when will it be available?

    I tried ordering beginning at 4 AM EDT and gave up at 7:30. At 10 AM I was first in line at an ATT kiosk and in 20 minutes had my phone ordered. They were having problems with pages loading and getting info in general. I think I got mine right before things got really bad.

    pre ordered mine this morning at 630am EST with no problems. took like 5 mins to do it. and pre ordered through the apple site

    I've been trying to upgrade since 6:30 am CST. After selecting my phone to upgrade I receive this error:
    There was a problem with your request.

    P1015: We're sorry, but we are experiencing a system error that prevents us from completing your request. For non iPhone related upgrades, please call Customer Care at 1-888-867-4384 and provide the error number at the beginning of this message.

    At midnight PST the site was down for maintenance. Understandable as they had to load the new stuff. At 1 am it came back up and I immediately started the order procedure. When it came to the AT&T verification the site started the checking procedure. It has been doing this now for 9 hours. What to do? Leave it running or try again or go down to the AT&T store. I guess that’s what I’ll do.

    I think it's pretty amazing that apple rips on AT&T for not being able to support the amount of data from smartphone users and changing the data package. Apple who is a company that prides themselves on having great computers and electronics can't even do a pre-order without problems…not even to mention the fact that they turned off the phone lines to apple support to hide from their customers… Great job Apple, you really know how to sho customers your amazing support.

    I ordered mine at 8:00 am eastern time on the AT&T website. Then when I was ready to order one for my wife, it didnt let me with the error. So she had to call few minutes ago AT&T, and theyr procesed her order on the phone.

  24. Both sites are still down for me, it's 10:45 AM Eastern, I feel like the people saying they were successful are lying to frustrate those who are routinely checking every 15 minutes or so.

    I guess I got lucky. It took me less than 5 mins to order 2 iPhone 4 (Family Plan) from AT&T website. I did try apple website but was having issue to just went to AT&T website and placed an order over there. Now, just sit back and wait for the iPhone to come in the mail…guessing around July 10, 2010?
