Apple and AT&T cancelling iPhone 4 pre orders

Something strange is going on apparently affecting some of you people that have pre ordered your iPhone.

According to a recent article by Nilay Patel over at Engadget.com some people have reported receiving an email from Apple cancelling their pre order stating that their order couldn’t be authorised.

Obviously this is cause for concern, although we cant say that we are that surprised as we are fully aware that AT&T had problems all last week dealing with the huge amount of pre orders.

The email simply states Dear Customer, we were unable to complete the authorization process for your iPhone order. As a result, we had to cancel your iPhone order. To complete the purchase of your iPhone, please visit an Apple Retail Store or an AT&T company owned retail store. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Needless to say this is causing a lot of frustration and the latest news states that now people are receiving cancellation emails from AT&T as well. Has this affected you have you had problems pre ordering your iPhone. Share your comments and opinions with us.

    If you try to order your iphone from Apple and you are an existing customer and your account is in arrears, Apple cannot complete you pre-order. I had this problem when I placed my first pre-order. It went through fine and then I got an email stating that they could not complete the order and it was cancelled. I brought my account current and placed a second pre-order and have called Apple to verify that I would be getting my iphone on the 24th, and they said that everything was fine.
    If you are a new customer and you are not credit worhty, then that's no ones fault but yours, so you can't blame Apple or AT&t.

    Okay well my account has never in arrears. So for you top say that it's no ones fault but mines is BS!!! I SPENT 2 HOURS TRYING TO GET THROUGH AND PRE-ORDER!!! and to have my order go through only to get some BS ONE DAY BEFORE LAUNCH IS RIDICULOUS!!! You don't know what everyone's situation is. My order was canceled because the person who took my order didn't add my account number to the order. How is that my fault. Dummy!!
