iPhone 4 Ordered, Should I Cancel Due To Problems?

Now due to the problems occurring with the new Apple iPhone 4, and we mean the antenna design and lack of signal when holding the smartphone it has made me think if I really want the handset now.

I have ordered the iPhone 4 direct from Apple online store and it will be arriving on July 14, do not get me wrong I have played around with the phone and think it is a fantastic piece of kit, but the signal problems when holding the phone in a wrong way is really making me consider if I should just cancel my order.

There have been reports that this issue could possibly get fixed with a new firmware update, which would be great if this sorts the problem out, if this is the case then all good but can you really see an update fixing the issue?

There are many complaints coming in about the reception issue and we wrote an article recently mentioning the possible class action lawsuit towards Apple over this problem, we have also posted a few videos showing you the problem when holding the iPhone 4 in the wrong way. (Video OneVideo Two)

Personally there should not be a wrong way or right way of holding a phone, a phone should be held any way you feel fit. Why should it be the case of holding a phone in a special way to get reception, I want to hold my iPhone in the most comfortable way to make my usage easy for me.

Please let us know of your iPhone 4 antenna problems and what your thoughts are, we would also like to know if you are considering cancelling your order of this smartphone based on this issue? I've got the 3gs 32gb (love it) & was going to find a way to get the new one (ebay etc.), but I'm certainly not now. I'll happily wait & see what next years model is like & decide whether to jump ship then. I'm voting with my wallet.

i have an iphone 4 since the day it was released and honestly iv never had the phone saying 'no service' or 'searching' iv tried holding it in my left hand and covering the antenna it only drops dow but i still have a signal and get texts and calls. i was holding it like that for at least 5 minutes until i go bored and the phone never said 'NO SERVICE' or 'SEARCHING' i could make calls and i even received a text. I am on the orange network and the most people that have complaint are either on o2 or the American att network. Iv had no problems on orange

In fact I may hold on to my current unlimited data contract for a while due to the download limits O2 are imposing on all new iPhone tarriffs. Over the past 10 months I've downloaded 4.7 gb. I don't want to be penalised for going over 500gb on the odd occasion. Come upgrade time, I'll see who has the best download limit/tarriff and again, vote with my wallet.

But yes, I'd say cancel the order. 🙂

Hello. I've had an iPhone 4 32GB for about a week now… and I will be returning it. Yes, I have the signal degradation issue, but that can be eased with a case. What worries me more is the battery performance: I am only getting 8-10 hours with moderate use… no way near the 18+ hours that others are reporting. I think it's to do with iOS 4.0 and push Google Mail via the MS Exchange protocol, but frankly I don't have the time to wait for Apple to fix this.

Reading some of Apple's internal documents to Apple Store staff and Geniuses/Genii (you can find them over at http://www.bgr.com), I have lost confidence in Apple to provide a lasting hardware fix, or to fix iOS 4.0 anytime soon, or to treat me fairly with regards to exchanges or repairs. For these reasons, I am going to return my iPhone 4 within the 14-day distance selling cooling-off period (your statutory rights) and get my £600 back while I can without any hassle.

    Good luck.

I had iphone 4 on 25/06/2010 and since than I had no problem with signals… I wil be honest here, if I hold the iPhone in a way (left hand corner) th signal does get drop by couple of bars but never had a scenario when it says no service or any voice call issues……
Works perfectly fine for me and had no trouble what so ever…..

I have an iphone 4, the signal degredation due to holding it is compounded by its lack of overall signgal. In a side by side test with a Nokia the iphone averaged at least 3 bars less signal for 95% of the time. Also if y ou live in an area where there is a poor signal the iphone is hanging . I would have tried to work through this but Steves Jobs attitude sucks my iphone is going back and I will buy an ITC Evo 4 if it comes to the UK
