Garminphone Poor Sales Refuted by Asus

The other day we posted an article concerning the Garminphone and that it had gained poor sales you can read that article (here) well apparently Garmin partner Asustek has refuted said claims that the Garminphone isn’t doing well on the sales front with T-Mobile.

According to an article over on Electronista, Asus has stated that shipments were as planned and that the device had “positive demand” however Asus didn’t come up with any figures to prove that claim.

Basically Morgan Keegan analyst Yari Reiner estimated that Garmin and Asus shipped only 20,000 Garminphones since the devices launch early last month and numerous stores hadn’t bothered to display the device, with a typical store shifting just 5 units.

Obviously Asus didn’t plan the launch of the Garminphone too well as it followed just 2 days after Apple unveiled the iPhone 4 which obviously grabbed all the mobile world’s attention. Still obviously Asus and Garmin are going to protect the rep of their latest baby, doesn’t make it fact though does it, unless they come up with some hard figures.
