iPhone 4 Not Recommended by Consumer Reports

That’s right and the reason is due to the iPhone 4 antenna problem. Up until now although almost everyone knows the iPhone 4 has a problem with its new antenna, it’s not been officially confirmed via rigorous testing, however that has now changed.

According to an article over on Engadget by Nilay Patel, Consumer Reports has now tested 3 iPhone 4 units along with numerous other AT&T handsets in their RF isolation chamber which simulates differing levels of signal from every carrier.

Apparently the results of the tests concluded that the iPhone 4 is the only device that suffered a signal loss issue, and Consumer Reports states their findings “indicate that AT&T’s network might not be the primary suspect,” and thus calls Apple’s explanation of a miscalculated signal meter into question.

Therefore Consumer Reports are saying they cannot recommend the iPhone 4 until such times as Apple comes up with a “permanent and free fix to the iPhone 4 antenna problem.”

We have a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure of said iPhone 4 tests, the first done by the guys at Engadget and the other by Consumer Reports, check them out and see what they have to say.
