Now that the new Motorola Droid X has been released and if you have already, or are expecting to gain the new Motorola Droid X smartphone then you are going to want to grab a few applications for the device to play with.

So with that in mind JR Raphael over on PCWorld has taken a look at the Android apps available and has come up with a list of the top ten Android apps for the Motorola Droid X.

So here we go…first up is Google Goggles which enables the user to snap an image and Google Goggles with scan said image and deliver web results based on the picture. If you snap a photo of a business Google Goggles will return relevant info about that business.

Next up is ShopSavy for Android, a free app from the Android Market whereby the user can scan barcodes and receive price comparison with other online and in your area stores.

Then there’s WaveSecure, which is an app that will via WaveSecure’s website remotely activate the Droid X GSP and pinpoint the device’s exact location if you happen to misplace your device, and if your Droid X has been stolen with one click you can remotely wipe all your personal data.

Fourth in line is MyBackup Pro, which is a robust backup app that is available from the Android Market for $4.99 and the user can virtually backup everything on the handset including system settings, texts, bookmarks, contacts, call logs, and files from every other app you have downloaded.

Sitting in fifth is Google Sky Map, an Android app that Google likes to call “mobile planetarium” and is a free app which combines GPS and compass data with date and time info to help the user identify planets, constellations and starts show on your screen.

Moving onto sixth is Double Twist, which is an alternative app to the Android default music player, a free app along with the free desktop version, which works seamlessly and takes the pain out of music syncing.

At seven we have Astro File manager, which enables the user to browse their device like a computer whereby you can navigate directories, delete files, copy and move files and virtually anything you can do with a PC based file manager.

Hanging around at eight is Pandora, no doubt most have heard of Pandora at one time or another and is somewhat of a practical necessity for the lover of music. Pandora for Android has its won widget and runs in the background and is also a free app on the Market.

Almost there at nine is Places Directory, an invaluable app if exploring the world, which uses the device’s location data to deliver up info of nearby business such as restaurants , hotels, banks and more and all broken down into categories.

At ten is Car Locator, an Android app which the title explains it all really, if you happen to forget where you parked your vehicle, Car Locator will locate it for you, and you can save your vehicles location at any time via the one touch home widget, priced at $3.99.

Almost done with Gesture Search, although Android device’s have system-wide voice search sometimes its easier to use your fingers. Gesture Search lets you draw letter to browse contacts, music, bookmarks, and app and the more letters you draw closer to the word the results are narrowed down.

Lastly we have Metal Detector, which again is quite self explanatory and is more for fun that functionality. Metal Detector is a free app and when you wave your handset over objects the on screen meter lets you know how much metal that object contains.
