i bought this samsung device monday of this wk….started off w problems. the main one is the home buttons dont respond right away. i have to push rantly a few times to get it to work(not good and very frustrating .) 2nd i found myself on face book app. good at first but when i leave it on and return or try too get back on while its in the background it just jumps back to the home screen. i like to text multiple people sometimes and i find it difficult to do so w this unit. i discovered you have to add them to a group in order to do so. if you do manually, its pretty hard to do if you cant remember everyone name. nothing shows up in the addy list to choose from .you have to type letters in then it pops up a name. lame to me. the 800 MHz processor speed lags at times. but other than that a ok phone. samsung needs to get the bug out this unit. and it will be flawless. i just wish i could get my hands on a evo or epic. 🙂 i will be taking this unit back for something else if the timing is right. other than that the texting is good .key board ok. oh yeah.. the unit response slow to the tilt when you turn it in sideways. like it dosent understand.thanks for reading. have a great day!

ur definitely not alone…all the issues I'm having with this phone Im reading the exact same thing on these reviews….I stongly agree that it'd b a perfect phone if they worked out the little kinks…

    2. David says:

Forget how to use the shift key? Punctuation sucks as well. How do you expect anybody to take you seriously if you cannot write English? Sorry, maybe your in third grade.

      1. Brittany says:

Well David, your grammar sucks. Your first sentence is a fragment. And I believe you meant to say, "Sorry, maybe YOU'RE in third grade." How can you expect to be taken seriously with those grammar issues?

  2. Dawn says:

Decent phone, however there are still some bugs to be worked out. Touch screen is a little slow at times, and occasionally apps and programs wont pull up. Hopefully updates are coming to fix these, but overall, I'm pretty happy. Battery life is low also.

  3. George says:

Bought for my daughter less than a week ago. She loved it at first but the phone screen has started to randomly turn off and the only way to get it back on is to take the battery out then put it back in. Goes a day or two then same thing happens all over again. No new apps running so it is definitely a phone issue.

    1. lindsey says:

the screen does go off. it's a feature of the phone to lock it. after you don't use it for a certain amount of time. it will go black. lol

      1. Eve says:

I have the same problem but it's DEFINITELY not the screen time out function, Lindsey. The screen just stops working and wont turn on no matter what buttons you press. HOWEVER, all the apps stay open and you can even shut the phone off (if you remember what buttons to press where on the black screen). Really annoying when you're in the middle of a phone conversation. Like George said (if you can't shut it off by fumbling around) you have to take the battery out and restart the phone.

  4. LoLo says:

I have had this phone for 3 days and it seems to work pretty good. I like the that it has both touch screen and keyboard for texting. I do find that I have to hit the screen several times to receive incoming calls which is annoying and I can;t seem to figure out if it is possible to purchase my own music for the ringtones. Spoke to two sprint stores as well as an hr on the phone with technical support and still no answer as to the ringtones, The way these phones keep coming out so close together, the people selling them can't seem to keep up with the features which is a problem. If anyone knows if this can be done please respond. thanks

    1. tori says:

you add music to your memory card then go into your music and pick which song you want to be your ring tone and hold it until some options pop up the only bad thing about that is it only plays the first 30 seconds of the song

    2. lindsey says:

you have to hold the answer button for several seconds to ensure that you want to answer the call noting it is a touch screen, i was frustrated too trust me lol

    3. mom says:

Phonezoo.com lets you create your own ringtones for free and upload. I have the same problem with having to tap the screen a couple of times to answer a call

    4. Zasha says:

I have the amazon mp3 app on mine and once a song is downloaded it goes to the recently added list. I then tap and hold the song I want as a ring tone and a window pops up with some choices, delete, play, use as ring tone, etc. Choose and your done. I have Virgin Mobile not Sprint but I don't think that would make a difference.

  5. Amber says:

When my Instinct broke, I was looking to upgrade to a Moment, but no one had them, so I got Rumor Touch, hated it. I returned it back and they sold me an Intercept. I LOVE the concept of this Android phone, but the aps seem to be sized differently for the screen. And I have the HUGEST difficulty going BACK or HOME, having to repeatedly hit the keys, or even close and reopen the phone to 'unfreeze' the button.. Should I take the phone back because of these two buttons? Its horrible! But if I try to show someone how they don’t work, they will work.
Oh, and I was expecting it to have a Flash, but it does not. What is up with that??
I really want a Moment now.

    1. Amber… I'm glad I read this because I am having the SAME problem. Most of the time it is almost impossible to get back to the main homescreen. Also, the screen goes out when I'm in the phone mode. Took me FOREVER to set up my voicemail because I couldn't see the screen to set my password. I hope I can take this phone back… it's horrible!

    2. ian says:

The moment isnot the right choice. You will still have the problems with the home or back keys. Touchscreen is slow and the gps features are way off. If it even puts me in the right country it is still a mile off every time. I have checked on it and this is a common problem with the moment. I am in the process of exchanging it fot the intercept. I hope it's better than the moment.

    3. Kyle Taylor says:

Im having the same problems…i had my first intercept for 2 weeks and couldnt deal with the home button freezing up…which was the only problem. they exchanged it for free for another intercept and this one is worse. now the home and back buttons are horrible and sometimes it will randomly go to the home screen and i cannot go to anything else until i close and reopen the screen. ive been doing a lot of research and this seems to be common. the only sprint android options are the evo, hero, intercept and moment. i see that the hero has text messaging problems supposedly linked to a task killer app but no one is for sure on this…im thinking about just going to the evo. i have a couple friends with it and they dont seem to have any problems…hope i am of some help

    4. Sara says:

you don't want the moment, i had it and they gave me the intercept bc i was in the sprint store every week because my moment kept shuting off or freezing, i had so many problems with it, i've had the intercept for a week and i'm having the same problems with it! i'm taking it back and demanding a totally different phone, something is wrong with every Samsung phone i get.

  6. blaze7 says:

well amber take it back if its not what you want.. i had the rumor touch as well and took that back. but this unit is better than the rumor touch. i think if samsung gets the bugs out this phone it will be pretty good… i originally want the evo. hopefully they will come in soon before my 30 days. but im trying to give this unit a go,just dont want to be to hard on a new unit as this. and i want to see what the samsung epic 4g is going to give htc a run for its money. all these nice devices coming out just in time for the holidays mmm great marketing guys lol!btw …the intercept could be a great unit if they fix the home button issues. and battery issues. ive even put app killer on my phone from the android market . helps a little, not much though. enjoy your unit! what ever the choice maybe. 🙂

  7. Angela says:

Got my phone yesterday have only made three call and sent one text and surfed the web a few times. Ended a call tonight and it ended my phone completely. Shut down and can't turn it back on.

  8. Jon says:

Picked up an Intercept for me, and one for the wife.Always had the plain ole flip phones prior, only talked, no chat,… The wife wanted to upgrade, so we did. Not real impressed with the service. The network (web, texting,…) has not worked on either phone about 1/2 the time. Not @ the same time on both phones, so I would think it is a problem w/the phone rather than the Sprint network. Have had to reset, remove battery, … them several times to get the network connection back. Again, I haven't text'd or surf'd the web prior, and wonder if this is normal or a glitch w/my phones. I also have the problem where the Home button doesn't work well. Sometimes, it works every hit, sometimes one has to hit it several times, or turn the phone off and back on. As for actual talking on it, the sound quality is fantastic. Will check bacl L8R for other thoughts.

  9. jaz says:

i have had the intercept for a week now and i love the phone. the only issue that i have with the phone is that you can not set individual ringtones for different callers. you can only set ringtones, for text messages, and notifications. so anyone know of a way to set ringtones for individual callers

    1. Stacey says:

Did you get the contact out of an older phone. I did this when I upgraded and worked for hours trying to figure it out. To do it, create a new contact, then down near the bottom, if will have a place called ringtone where you can specify a ringtone for that specific contact. Oh yeah, when you create a new contact….save it to the phone….not google.

      1. Betsy says:

Careful saving contacts to the Phone – I realized that all of the contacts brought over from my old phone to the Intercept weren't backing up to Google contacts. I was told that only the Google contacts will backup (not phone contacts). So be careful with that if you care about not losing the info.

        1. skysayzrawr says:

I wish I'd have known this earlier. I synced my Yahoo! account so I could check my email. I go to my contacts and find it's brought in all my email contacts (mostly addresses, few actual phone numbers), so I delete them from my phone contacts, my main caller contacts. I got on my email (on my laptop) later that day, only to find IT DELETED THEM OUT OF MY EMAIL CONTACTS LIST. I lost 3/4 of my contacts, many of which I have no way to get back since I didn't back them up. So yeah, I'm pretty upset about that.

    2. laly says:

yes you can. When you download them from the market.(mobilo) you will be able to set as and then you select the contact. First you have to download the app though its called mabilo and has a little blue thing and then you have to open it and press download MOBILO and once you do that all the ringtones are free and you can set them to different contacts.

    3. Weezy says:

Create a new contact on the phone, don't bother to put in anything but the name. Set your ringtone (down the page a bit), then link the contact to the existing downloaded contact. The ringtone works AND you have all of your prior info on the person.

    4. Krys says:

Theres a way toset up individual ringer tones for different go to the persons name hit edit scroll down to ringtone and it will bring up thw ringtone list select your tones and hit done.

    5. autumngirl says:

go to the caller you want to set a ringtone for, then go menu and then options. It gives you an option to set a ringtone for that individual caller. I had to have the guy at the store where I bought it show me how to do it though. Not very user friendly. 🙁

  10. Miriam says:

I got this phone about 4 days ago and I’m loving it so far. The home and backscreen button do lag a little bit from time to time but overall is pretty quick. If you text, call or use the internet a lot you do have to recharge it every night, but I used to do that with my old phone anyway so its not a problem for me.

@ Jaz: You can set ringtones for individual people if you go to your contacts list and edit each persons settings.

    1. Gisela says:

I just got this phone today and I've been playing with it all afternoon and I cannot set an individual ringtone for any of my contacts, how do you do it??

      1. mee says:

if you go to their name in the contact list..select their name, then hit the menu button next to the the home button, and a screen will pop up in which you can choose edit

          1. Amy says:

i had the same problem. this phone SUCKS. here's the thing…you must have loaded your contacts from an old phone or from google. because of this you can't give them their own ringtone. the way around this is to go to "create new contact" (above "A" in your contact list). type in the name exactly as it's listed in your google contact and click save. you don't need to type in any additional info. it will recognize the same name and link the two contacts. THEN go into that contact and click on menu, then edit. it will have a tab to edit the google contact or the phone contact (green phone icon). click on the green phone and scroll down and then FINALLY on this godforsaken piece of crap you can customize a ringtone.

  11. wendy says:

I have had the same facebook issue as Blaze7, and the same home button issues as a few other posters. Other than that and the battery being low, I love the phone!

Had a moment, and the only thing I miss about the Moment is the flash. Overall though, pic quality is good!

Thinking updates will come and solve these issues though…

Its worth the price I paid for it (free after credits and rebates), and I love the fact its not a bulky as my sons EVO…

    1. gwen says:

To save battery change all the setting for sync do it manually.I shut off location and wifi and I keep it on vibrate or silent.Make sure to get atk it does help.

  12. kerry says:

How can you set a downloaded ringtone for a text message? It will show as an option for a ringtone…but not on my notification list?? …..anyone…

    1. DeMontre' says:

you have to go to app market and get handcent sms and it will take over your regular messaging.. and it will allow you to set ringtones for text messages for all of your contacts

        1. Flowers says:

you can also go to the myfiles menu and move your ringtones around. the ones I wanted for notification, I either moved or copied to the notification file under media.

  13. Jeska10 says:

I got mine last week and I am about to go return it. I love PDA type phones specially with qwerty, since I send emails and txts all the time. I HATE the lagging buttons, I have been close to throwing the phone cause nothing happens. I get disconnected from the network everytime I am doing something important. Other than that I love this phone, maybe I just need to get used to the touch screen thing, but maybe this phone is just not for me (Not very patient). I'm going on raincheck for an evo.

  14. Carly says:

Just bought this phone yesterday and Loving it ..except yesterday the home/back button would hardly work just like everyone else is saying.. it only worked every now and then… I had to keep pressing them a lot ,but today for some reason the buttons seem to be used to my touch now and are working a lot better….I love all the apps you can put on this phone…I like the ringtones that came w/ the phone also but I wish they we’re longer …the keyboard is a little different then my old phone cuz the keys were actually pushed out a little but this one is a little harder to get used to since they’re flat but not a big problem….I also like how you can organize the desktop to have whatever apps on it you want. I’ve never had a touchscreen phone before so it’s all new to me so pretty far I’m happy about it and the guy at the Sprint store helped me out a lot and showed me how to do some things which was very nice… so I do recommend this phone to anybody. =]

  15. Mgreen says:

My contacts don't appear when typing a new message. I enter a letter or 2 into the 'To' box and it is supposed to show me matches from my contacts list but I don't see anything. All I can figure is that all of my contacts were loaded up at the Sprint store by their SIM card reading machine. If I delete and re-enter one of my contacts, it suddenly appears in the search from the 'To' box. I don't really want to delete and re-enter about 100 contacts. Any ideas for me?

    1. Amber says:

I think I will have to return my Intercept for that reason. My contacts do not come up in the "To" box at all. I can't send to multiple people or forward a text. I also can't delete unwanted apps. Looks like I might be getting the Hero.

      1. craig says:

it could be the phone or the software have you ran updates on it??? I upped my contacts via bluetooth though all my contacts that had pics assigned to them would not copy over…. but they are all there when creating a new text now after reentering like 6 that did not copy… but usually when i open messaging it will come up with everyone i have sent text to or received text from you have to think this phone is a droid and if it takes you some time to get used to just think how your phone feels it might take a while for you phone to get used to you too… but if there is something wrong and you just out of incredible odds got a defective unit i would say give it a chance!!!

      2. Steve says:

Open your Contacts list and hit the menu button. If you select More it will give you the option to Import/Export. This will allow you to import your contacts FROM the SC card and place them in the phone. Hope this helps

  16. geoffrey says:

I bought the phone on friday and after a furious hour of texting and calling all of my contacts to update them that my number has changed, ( damn you Boost for not allowing my number to be transfered) I have not run into any of the issues that folks seem to have. My home/back buttons are responsive and work good, In regards to the issue with apps not being able to run in the right output the phone has a limited pixel resoloution. Before i purchased the phone I did a weeks worth of investigation and spec comparision. This phone rocks for what it is, a great ENTRY level android phone. If you need more there are many more amazing phones out there but damn this one is great.

    1. Key says:

I dont know if it matters or if you care…. but if you get a boost customer svc rep online you can get your account number and port your number. Im surprised that Sprint wasnt able to snatch it since Boost is Sprint…

  17. tamiahilton says:

Okkay , so i am ready for my upgade and i dont know what phone to get , i want this one but i am hearing alot of bad comments on it . can somewhone please tell me the pros and cons that had this phone for a while and didnt dropp it !

    1. craig says:

I havent really had my phone too long less than a week really but I have had a few issues with it but stuff that is easily fixed like for instance I had put an app on for speech to text really cool app but would not cooperate with my bluetooth and then i had connectivity issues with my bluetooth i removed the app and problem solved… i think the button problem some people have could also be they just need to get used to the phone cause if you dont touch it in the right spot it might not respond but once you get used to the touch of your phone it is cake now i just need a windshield wiper for my screen lol the sound is real good i have a love for samsungs sound and the picture quality is amazing I watch tv and movies on the phone as well as videos on youtube and it is great it takes beautifull pictures just does not have a flash (and they were going to call this the moment 2 lol) call clarity is great the keyboard is awesome and the joystick works good…i did notice though that sometimes the screen wont turn but i think it is due to running apps in the background and when i open the slide it turns always right away so its not a big deal i love the way text messages come up in a yahoo messager sort of way there is so much to learn about it still cause im not the type to read the manual unless i absolutely cant figure it out myself and i have to admit that i have not cracked it further than trying to figure out how to activate the phone but after that it was play with it till i know all there is to know about it…

    2. Natalie says:

Do NOT get this phone, let me repeat that DO NOT. This is the worse phone I've EVER had in my life. It freezes constantly, wont let me make or answer calls, sometimes doesn't let me text, apps wont work half the time, and turns off by itself. I've took it to my carrier and they just keep resetting it, which hasn't helped one bit. Don't waste your money.

  18. Candace says:

im getting the intercept later this week, any suggestions how to work it? im not really liking what im hearing about the freezing, im super impatient!!!

    1. Jill says:

Candace, if you are super impatient then I would not recommend this phone. I got it a little more than a week ago and I hate it! It sometimes won't open up the messaging icon and It will take me 5 minutes to get to a screen where I can send a text. One morning I couldn't get it to turn on and that was after it was charging all night long. apps don't always open and the home and back buttons need to be pushed multiple times in order to work. It's a very annoying phone.

    2. Monica says:

I returned the Hero and went with the Intercept merely because I needed a keyboard. Overall, I love the phone. I could immediately start using it without having to look at the manual, etc., My issue is that I am unable to obtain a good connection with callers utilizing a Bluetooth. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

  19. priscilla says:

I got the phone a day early and was very excited to be the first to get it. However….I am very frustrated because When I silence my phone (in a meeting) or if I am driving with the music on….I have NO WAY of knowing if I got a text message or not unless I turn my phone on and off every 5 minutes to see! There is NO LIGHTS that flash or no screen light up to show me I have a new text….The only way to know is to actually HEAR the ringtone….How does this work for DEAF people!!! SUX!

Same with everyone else, home button freezes up and ringtones and notification ringtones are hard to set! I want to return my phone! It is VERY frustrating!

      1. gwen says:

There is an app flash notify and no led that help with this. They make the whole phone light up when you have a sms or email.I also use hadscent which has a pop up.

          1. gwen says:

handscent is an app to replace your sms.Its great you can change fonts and add diffrent notifications for each contact. It has a pop up for your text messages. The pop up is like on the iphone.

    1. guest says:

I downloaded a different messaging app that gives me more option like the screen lighting up, etc. I got ChompSMS and love it. However, my phone is giving me so many other problems (not connecting to 3G, etc) I will be taking it back. Good luck

    2. Curious George says:

"How does this work for DEAF people!!!" Deaf people use cell phones now? Does the phone translate words into sign language flashes for them?

  20. intercept suckz says:

had this phone for 3 days, already having waay too many problems. Apps wont open @ times, and when they are opened they continue to run, if u go to settings to try and fix this problem it tells u that the app may have problems in the long run…just today i was on my phone and the whole screen just turned black and had red lines running through it….headed back to the sprint store today to see about a new phone

  21. I've had this phone for -almost- two days and I agree with those people who commented on the lagging buttons…my home and back buttons sometimes dont seem like they will actually go back or home for me when I press them and I sometimes have to continually press them. Also, I mostly text and the messaging button will look as if it will pop up but then it doesnt load any of the messages and goes back to whatever screen I was on originally. Does anyone know why it is doing that?

I agree that Samsung needs to work out these bugs for it to be a great phone-its fun so far but im getting somewhat frustrated with it not working quite like I want to!

  22. Buddy says:

The phone is not that bad. Yes you can forward txt msgs, just press on the message and a menu will pop up. Yes you can set ringtones individually, go to the contact and scroll down, you’ll see the option there. Take the time to find things people! If you don’t like the idea of that then this phone isn’t for you. There are cons though; no led notification light or missed notification sound as with the moment! But there’s an app for that. No check box for multiple texting, you have to type names in the TO section or create a group, blah! Yes the home/menu buttons freeze usually after a call. And this I don’t understand but when a call comes in it asks to hold down on accept button and sometimes it doesn’t. Other than that its fun to explore and find what u can do with the phone! I like the keyboards big buttons and smiley button 🙂 oh and yes you can delete downloaded apps, just go to the app store>downloads and they’ll be there with option to uninstall.

    1. Gary says:

I had the same thing with it asking to hold the accept button down to answer a call and sometimes it doesnt??………I just answer by clicking the talk button.

      1. Dan says:

The contact specific ring tones only work for contacts NOT stored in the Gmail account. It's possible to backup your contacts to a vcf file and then restore to the internal phone contacts. This technique can create a bunch a strange entries for contacts that do not have first or last names, such as Business contacts. The entries appear in the contact list as only a phone number. To fix this I needed to edit each business contact and unlink the phone number. It's hard to describe but it can been done. I have 150 contacts with many business numbers so it was quite a pain to unlink a bunch of contacts.
Be aware also this can create double entries in your contact list.

        To backup contacts:
        1. Go to Contacts.
        2. Tap Menu button
        3. Tap More
        4. Tap Import/Export
        5. Tap Export to SD card
        6. Tap OK

        To Import contacts to phone
        1. Go to Contacts.
        2. Tap Menu button
        3. Tap More
        4. Tap Import/Export
        5. Tap Import from SD card
        6. Select Create Contact under account Phone
        7. Select Import one vCard file and Click OK
        8. Select the vCard file you exported to earlier.
It should be self explanatory from here…

        Good luck

  23. Weezy says:

I haven't had any of the problems noted. No lagging buttons, found how to assign ringtones after some research on the web, speed is good. I came from a Palm Pre, a phone I wanted to be wonderful but was disappointed in. This phone is better, faster and clearer screen. Had a minor problem this morning with the phone calling out while I was trying to get a voice mail and the phone has randomly dialed a contact once, but both only happened once in almost a week. In both cases I think it was operator error not the phone. I do miss the flash on the camera, but I have a good mini camera for real photo shooting anyway.

  24. DeMontre' says:

I have no problems with the intercept but i see like little light bulbs at the top in the left hand corner… someone please tell me how i can get them to work because i have my phone on silent sometimes and i cant tell when someone is calling me when im either handling business or im driving with the radio turned up

    1. bridget1982 says:

Those aren't light bulbs in the left hand corner. Those are proximity sensors. Those detect how close an object is to the LCD. It's typically used to detect when your face is pressed up against the LCD, such as during a phone call. You can find a diagram of your phone in the user guide that came with the phone.

  25. blueguineapig says:

I got this phone maybe a week ago. I really like it . Its a super nice phone. One of y favorite parts about it is that you can put all of your songs on there that you want and listen to them . I wasnt able to do that with my old phone, i couldnt even use the enternet. The speakers are amasing too , i always listen to music on there. I also like the fact that is has a nice keyboard that slides out. Its the perfect texting phone for me.

    1. allie says:

how do you put music on the intercept? does it cost money to put them all on there or is there an app that you can just download whatever songs you want to put on your phone?

  26. Tory says:

Have only had this phone not even a week. The battery said it was fully charged this morning at 9 am and by 4 pm it was dead. the buttons are non responsive and the phone just goes dead after phone calls. Also, it gets jammed up ALOT. I am taking this phone back tomorrow. Ridiculous!

Ok I have the same issues with the buttons. But think logically this phone is basically a mini computer if your computer freezes what happends when you try to click out of it a million times? It takes even longer.. just take your timeand let the phone understand what your trying to do.. just be patient.

  28. Cassandra says:

I have the samsung intercept and I was wondering can anybody tell me how to download music onto the memory card. When I try it says that the memory is already full and will not let me sync any music from my computer. Also where does the big memory card goes on the phone. will someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Amy says:

that "big" memory card is actually an adapter. You have to take the mini card out of your phone, put it in the small slot on the bottom of you adapter and plug that into your computer (along with the enclosed usb cable). Then you can transfer music or pics, etc. Still not the easiest process though. I went through all of this to make my own ringtone on the "ringdroid" app only to discover it won't work with any songs uploaded from windows media player.

  29. bridget1982 says:

I got the Intercept a few days ago and I love it! Yes the home/back buttons lag every now and then but that's not a big deal to me. There is one thing I can't figure out with the phone though. I downloaded ringtones from myxer and ended up with some unwanted ringtones and can't seem to figure out how to delete them off my phone. Anyone know how to do this?

    1. Flowers says:

try my files. you have to locate the ringtones, then if you hold you finger on the particular one that you want a menu will come up that allows you to delete

  30. Rocky says:

My wife got the phone Monday. She loves most of the features coming from a Palm Centro to the Interceptor. She is a hair stylist and uses the calendar function for appointments. The calendar loads the info and says it is saved but when you go to the calendar nothing is there. Went back to store twice now and problem went away now it's back. No too impressed at this point.

  31. seth says:

I just bought this phone yesterday this phone works great for me no problems simple and easy to use took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to assign the ringtones in all i believe it is a great phone

    1. Amy says:

You have to remove the micro card from your phone and put it into the provided adapter (looks like a regular SD card), then you also have to attach the provided usb cable (from your charger) from the phone to the computer. Your phone will register as another drive (prob "F" or something), right click on the highlighted song and choose to send it to that drive). Unfortunately all of my music library is on Windows Media Player and some ringtone related apps don't support WMP. That's where I get confused.

  32. darin says:

Got this phone as an upgrade from the palm pre which was a good choice. I Hate lag and this phone really doesn’t that much at all. My home and back buttons do lg from time to time but not as bad as others. If they do I find it takes one tap to kind of “wake the phone up” and the next tap responds. When the apps don’t respond I just lock the phone with the end button and soon as I unlock it the app is either running or will run on the next tap, not a big deal. As for lagging with the Home screen and browser not the best, after research I found if u download the app adw home screen and dolphin broswer there is MUCH less lag on both of these. My only inquiry is storage space, it tells me as a notification the phone’s low on storage. I only have a 4g sd card in it with close to 3gs of space left. Not sure if I need a bigger card (since it can hold up to a 32 and 2.9g left of free space is very little compared to that) or if its reffering to the internal storage.

    1. gwen says:

It might be internal storage.Try a task killer.I notice that when I get the full message I kill running tasks and then wait a bit and it clears up.Sometimes you have to reboot to really clear it.

  33. Amy says:

UGH! Had this phone for about a week and unless it performs a miracle in the next day or two it will be going back. Trying to give it a fair chance but have had many problems.
    1) Like many others have said, the back and home buttons either lag or sometimes don't work all together. Very annoying to get stuck on a page.
    2) No lights to alert to a missed call or text.
    3) No Sprint navigation like I was told it had (navigational apps just aren't the same, I don't like them)
    4) When trying to open Messaging or another app, the phone will flash like it's going to open it but then close down back to the home screen. I had to try re-opening my texts several times before I could get it to finally stay open…frustrating when trying to return texts or run an app and happens quite often.
    *continued….

    1. Amy says:

      5) Here's the real kicker… My phone hadn't refreshed my email or texts for hours so I decided to shut the phone off and turn it back on to see if that would work. I heard a bunch of "dings" and assumed my phone was loading all the missed messages. To my horror my phone was frantically resending EVERY text I had ever sent to everyone in my text log. Not good for someone like me who doesn't delete old texts and has like 200 stored…per person. Unfortunately I then had to quickly delete all my text history to stop what hadn't been sent yet. Most of the texts I guess I don't care about but there was some info. on there that I needed to be saved, now it's gone. Also had many upset friends to messaged me after their phones were basically useless while they received so many messages.
      6) FB doesn't refresh like it should. When I look on my computer I can see all the comments people have made to status updates…on my phone it might take hours before all the comments appear.
      *continued…

    2. Amy says:

      7) Like all sprint phones (except for the EVO), the camera is pretty mediocre compared to phones provided by other carriers, even if they are made by the same brand. I don't get it. Most of the other carriers seem to have 5 megapixels phones, with sprint you're lucky to get a 3 with no flash.

Too bad. This phone could have SO much to offer…if only it would work

    3. Roxanne says:

You can download Sprint Navigation – I just did it. I was also used to this app from my blackberry and love it compared to other navigatin apps.

  34. Mike says:

Great phone. I read a post that someone said you can't assign ringtones to your contacts or address book. This is false, the phone makes it very easy to do. My main complaint is battery life. Don't like that some apps run automatically (for upgrades, etc) even when you don't want them to. I believe this takes a toll on the battery. One of them is Amazon MP3, which came with the phone. I can't find a way to delete this app. There is a fantastic droid app for stopping apps that are running (Advanced Task Killer), use it a lot. Would I buy it again? Yes, because I have a charger at work and at home. If I was on the road a lot and didn't have access to a charger, the answer would be definitely no.

  35. Jessica says:

I just got the Intercept a couple days ago and im loving it! I dont know if thats just because its still new too me but I dont see anything wrong with it..I will have to agree on the home/back button freezing or not responding when I touch but big deal it still ends up working. Every other touch screen phone i have had froze at times anyways. I think its a great phone and i definatly would reccomend it 🙂

  36. D. Green says:

I got this phone less than one week ago. I canno get the speaker phone or the alarm to work. It may just be some internal setting. Any recommendations?

  37. Nene says:

There is a free application called Flash Notify to alert you of any missed calls or text messages. It works great on the Intercept. It will light up your buttons and screen to let you know of any missed events. As far as the home and back buttons go, try gently gliding your finger across them…that does the trick for me. Hope this helps!

  38. Tracey says:

does anyone know how to delete a ringtone off of this phone? I love the phone and have had no problems with it – LOVE IT….but need to delete off some ringtones that I don't want anymore.

  39. Hayley Help :) says:

Im getting a samsung intercept in 3 days and I am super nervous now because of all the terrible comments. What i really dont like is the comment about the not lighting up when its silent.. But will it vibrate? If it does I think im ok. Im coming from a Rumor2 which was a FANTABULOUS phone. 😀 also very angry with the "lagging" comments.
    comment comment!
    ~Hayley 🙂

    1. mztinkerbell says:

yea me 2 (nervous) mine should b here tomorrow. I'm just praying I have coverage as it is stated on the Sprint website..the only problem i c cant b fixed is possibly the lagging though because i have found fixes for all the other problems..and the phone not having flash isn't really that bad because alot of video reviews show that the phone still takes really good pics without flash in low lighting..even better than newer phones wit flash on them..so im super excited 2 gt my phone before school starts so I'll have time to learn how to use it so i dnt look lik i dnt kno what im doin in front of other ppl 🙂

  40. Paul says:

I just got my phone two days ago. Lots of problems. The battery can't hold a charge for longer than 5 hours. And I have nothing running to make it go down so fast!! The buttons do lag which is hard to get used to unless this is common with a touch screen. I had a blackberry and never had any problems with the phone ever!!! The phone keeps loading in old emails from my yahoo account?? Even thou I deleted them twice already from the phone. Weird!! I also get dropped calls and the phone tells me it's roaming all the time when my last phone never said that. And i'm still with Sprint. And it's a hit or miss on getting notified of an email or text. Sometimes it works and other times nothing…

    1. Gwen says:

Check to see if you have it fetching too often that kills the battery, dont leave the location services running. Also manually check you mail.Install advance task killer and ultimate juice they save battery.

  41. Aleesha says:

Ive had my Samsung Intercept for at least a month now & as much as i love it, i still cant figure out two main problems & its driving me crazy.
One: How do you forward a text message? Everyone keeps saying to click on it & a menu will pop up but it doesnt do anything when i click on it…
Two: How do you save pictures to your phone? From a text message OR if you're using the internet? If i click on the picture, a menu doesnt come it, when i click on it it just takes me to the next picture.
    Some pleeeease help! =/

  42. Jessica says:

I loved this phone at first and was so excited about my purchase. After being a proud owner for 2 weeks, I am completely annoyed by this unit. My biggest complaint is how difficult it is to make a phone call…isn't that the purpose of a phone?? My contacts won't show up and when I try to make a speedy call, the phone freezes and eventually gives me a blank screen. Heaven forbid I am in an emergency situation and need to make a quick call. Today it took me approximately 5 minutes to get from the home screen to making a phone call. Frustrastion level: 100!! The touch screen buttons appear to work randomly. Facebook and messaging will sometimes not open. My husband has the Palm Pre and will have internet connection when my phone says it cannot retrieve data. The camera is okay, but for the price, it should have a flash. I am extremely frustrated with this phone. I love the look and feel, but it is slow and I recommend not making this purchase. Now, I need some recommendations for a replacement!

  43. Kenny says:

This device is almost as slow as my rooted T-Mobile G1, now that's bad. The home buttons kinda lag, the off button never turns off the screen, and just the whole presentation of the phone's OS is just lacking compared to phones of it's kind that have been out longer and perform far better. It makes a good entry-level smartphone, but for someone with experience in Android, this is simply unacceptable from Samsung. There are phones that outshine this thing by leaps and bounds, there's no excuse that Samsung can't do better. I'll be returning this phone, for sure.

  44. CRISTINA says:

I GOT MY PHONE LAST WEEK AND ITS WAS GOOD THE FIRST 4 DAYS NOW THE BATTERY GOES DEAD LIKE SO QUICK I GOT A NEW BATTERY TO SEE IF THE BATTERY WAS MESS UP BUT IS STILL DOING IT. THE PHONE GETS SO HOT OMG I CAN EVEN CALL NO ONE EVERY TIME I DO IT WILL SAY FORCE TO CLOSES OR WAIT ALL THE TIME THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS PLAY GAMES IN THE PHONE……..THE PHONE IS NICE BUT IT JUST SO BAD

  45. da ninja says:

had this phone for 2 days and used it like any one would use their new touchscreen with unlimited apps. and i guess i over heated it and it started to lag out bad and i turned the phone off and it wont turn back on..lol.. damn 2.1

  46. Stacks says:

The phone is good. Be patient it’ll work smoother. It has alot of apps to modify it and make it your own. There are apps that do run in back ground just ajust the settings . It is a Droid and works as good as any phone but definitely has a lot of gismos to play with. Love. Just keep screen clean

  47. albert says:

Question: I got a task killer for my intercept and when I go and kill an app, the app is right back on the screen before I can even kill another app. How can I fix this?

  48. carol says:

Had the phone for a week already having way too many problems. Apps wont open @ times, backspace button dont work, phone shuts off…Headed back to the sprint store today to see about a new phone. Does anyone know if sprint will charge restocking fee if I get a different phone.

  49. Tracy says:

Aleesha, you have to click on the message or picture and hold down till the options pop up. The phone is a pain in the butt at times…very laggy! Thinking about returning it for the palm pixi which I originally wanted but I love the apps available

  50. Delilah says:

i love it so for but my screen wont rotate when i rotate my phone thats the only problem i already checked the rotate automatically but it wont!

  51. Tami says:

I added a free ringtome from an app. The ringtone worked, then stopped. I uninstalled the app, but the non-working ringtone is still there. Does anyone know how to delete it?

  52. George says:

The first few days were great! I ran around telling my co-works and friends, "Wow, this phone is great!" I was going to look past the lack of notification light and update all my urgent contacts to email me to a Gmail account as this phone isn't AOL friendly.
App killer installed day 1. About 2 weeks into ownership I'm getting Force close when I answer the phone. When I go back to the phone log to call the "missed call" the numbers are not on the log. This also happens when I'm talking. Nothing better than talking to yourself and then saying, " Hello, Hello?" to discover force close on the screen.
My bluetooth doesn't stay connected. My emails started coming in hours after they were in my box, not every 5 minutes. The deal breaker was trying to open my emails or attachment and the phone says "Loading" which takes 5 to 10 minutes to load a text email.
My old, cracked screen, Palm Pre is a million times more functional than this phone. I need a new phone but this isn't the one for me! I hope yall have better luck.

  53. mitch says:

i love this phone. i had the palm pre before this and wanted it to be good but that phone sucks hard. my one and only problem though with the phone is i cant seem to change the ringtone for when i get texts. i go through the steps of changing the ringtone but it stays the same. i downloaded it from zedge. if i delete the ring tone then change it even restart it after all that when i get a text it just vibrates. does anyone have any ideas of what i can do? thanks for the help

  54. Larissa says:

this phone was great at first, it lags quite a bit, the alarm doesnt go off all the time, you have to push the home key quite a bit to get it to work, and i always get disconnected from the internet, it is always laggy with all the apps, the facebook app hardly ever works for me, the camera only takes landscape pictures not portrait, this phone is a good phone with the android tech. but overall it is a bad phone, i want to go exchange it but dont have money, maybe in 2 years!!

  55. Glenda says:

Thinking about getting a different phone. Had the Intercept for about 3 weeks and had more problems than I have had fun. What phone should I get. I like the apps and all on the Intercept, but they don't work most of the time. Got tired of taking the battery in and out. I have had all the problems already mentioned here. Now I think I just want a phone that is dependable for calls and texting. Period. Any suggestions?

  56. Dustin says:

I purchased this phone at bestbuy and only got the phone because it has the android system and also it was supposed to have flash (according to the bestbuy rep.) anyway, I soon found out it didn't have flash on the camera (huge disappointment) and when my contacts transferred over it copied 4 of each contact so it took me an entire day almost to fix that. Then I realized that the phone brower would randomly just stop working. I took the phone back to bestbuy and exchanged for a new one. The only problems I have no is the phone does lag a bit, the home key does not always respond and the lock/unlcok feature is a bit of an annoyance. So far though my browser has stayed connected. Still disappointed aabout no flash and Samsung needs to release a fix for the bugs regarding the lag and buttons.

  57. nicci says:

Anyone know how to get the phone to light up when u get a text message. i usually have my phone on viberate and if i don't check it all the time i miss alot of texts thanks 🙂

Btw i love love love this phone this is my only problem so far, i havn't have any issues with the buttons sicking or it freezing unless i do it myself.

  58. Keith says:

I love this phone but it is annoyin the hell out of me. Other than laggin buttons, tha main thing pissin me off is that every so often, when I try to access my messages or any other program it jus goes bacc to the home screen and does nothing for a long period of time. Ive only had this phone for 6days seriously WTF??!!!! Should I take the phone back or what?

  59. Rob says:

Ok, just wanted to confirm what everyone has stated. This phone, with the stock load is quite laggy, but thanks to android, this is easily fixed. 1st thing you will need to do is download ATK from the market. This will serve as your task killer. The phone starts up a ton of applications that are not needed upon boot up. You will see an immediate performance boost just by doing this alone. I also keep the ATK widget on my main homescreen just to clean up while I use my phone to keep it snappy. The second thing to do is find a replacement homescreen that is light weight and quick. I use LauncherPro Plus (2.99 for Plus, free w/o the plus which includes some nice HTC like widgets and the ability to scale size any widget). The final thing is to install a good light weight browser. I use Dolphin-HD. just doing these 3 thing made my phone work perfectly with no force close issues and no lag on the buttons at all.

  60. ayron says:

This phone will not stay connected to my blue tooth which is a real pain!!! still have some time to return it. Is anyone eles having this problem or know how to fix the problem.

  61. Burguni says:

I hate this phone but I am stuck with it. Touchscreen doesn't work and I can't add a text signature. My face can hang up the phone which sucks no flash plus what everybody else said.

  62. derek says:

Ok social butterflies!!! Time for a a new problem with a some-what new phone. Bought the Samsung Intercept about 25 days ago. Ever since day one i havent been able to access my contacts. It says "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try agian." yea well i given up on trying for 25 days. There is a major problem. As soon as i picked the phone up turned it on it did this. So the kind sprint manager at the store gave me another phone. It still does this. help? all i want to be able to do is see my contacts.

  63. Bob says:

I got my intercept a few days ago and have not had any of the problems i am reading, the back and home keys do go slow at times if I have pages loading or apps working, no freezing, it fast, the web works great and it was easy to learn to use switching from a blackberry. The amount of apps you can get is unreal(for free) The kid at best buy that set it up made a differance from other phones i'v had, he showed me soem thing i would want to change to make it work better to how i needed it. I do wish it had a simple back up liek blackberry that i can just plug into my laptop and back up. I also installed the invasheild for the face as to not scratch it or what ever and it didnt slow or affect the touch screen at all. I play with it all day and have not had the battery run out yet. SO far very happy

  64. R.CRAPPEL says:

my samsung intercept had problems from the get go ! I thought it was my daughter but it was the phone. I went back to the Sprint store three or four times and they took the battery out ,brought it in the
repair shop and gave it back saying it was ok ! I went back to Sprint to exchange it on the 29th day and
the Mgr. and a service tech talked to me and stated all phones have some problems and they took the battery out cleared the cache and gave me some advice on the operation of the phone and basically talked me out of exchanging the phone stating that the 2.2 upgrade would fix the problems with the Intercept. Now the 30 day exchange period has past and I'm stuck with a problem lemon phone ! the samsung Intercept is JUNK !! and Sprint knows it !! A Sprint rep told me that there is no bad reviews on the Intercept ? ! ? ! This rep must not look on Sprints own web site or any other web site because there is many, many bad reviews and problems with the Intercept ! Sprint is knowingly selling a problematic phone ! Is that cuts service, does Sprint really care about its customers ?? I think not !! .

    1. R.CRAPPEL says:

Samsung & Sprint need a upgrade that will fix the problems of the Samsung Intercept or RECALL IT !! GIVE ME A PHONE THAT WORKS OR LET ME OUT OF THE CONTRACT. Sprint Reps speak softly and kind but that wont fix the problems with the LEMON INTERCEPT. BEWARE !!

    2. Kara Lee says:

Perhaps your particular phone is a lemon. I've had my intercept for nearly three months, and the only issue I've had was with the home key lagging when I hit it. Other than that, I think it is a great beginner Android phone.

  65. Paul says:

I think the phone is adequate, but juvenile at best. Why do I have to tap the text box to type?? There are several redundant functions that make this a mediocre phone.

  66. fif14 says:

This phone & Sprint have been a nightmare! We have been strung along with this phone for 2 months and have no end in sight. From home key issues, phone just shutting down, text messages not sent, or received, or delayed, dropped calls, no call waiting notifications, no mobile or voice access, a variety of irractic behavoirs too numerous to mention. What is interesting is we have the family plan and have 5 Intercepts and we live in DIFFERENT cities, yet have the SAME issues! We have been been told things like, pop the battery at least once per week, that we are the only ones with these issues, etc.. All i know is between me and my family we have spent nearly 100 HOURS on various issues and troubleshooting endevours….

  67. Jennifer says:

I could not agree with fif14 more! This phone is a nightmare. I have had all the same problems with this phone and Sprint unresponsive. I feel stuck with this phone for another 9 months! Unless, of course I want to spend hundreds of dollars to get a new one. DO NOT get this phone under any circumstances. I do not know how I have managed to not throw it against the nearest wall at times. STAY AWAY! I cannot stress that enough. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

  68. Kara Lee says:

Working with Sprint has been a hassle for me, but I love the Intercept. I've had it for almost three months, and the only issue I've had with it was the home key doesn't respond all the time. It can be very frustrating at times, but if you're willing to overlook that, it can be a great phone. It's an easy to use, mid-priced Android phone. Also, if you're worried about the battery life, I find it not be be an issue (and I very frequently through out the day). Just download an automatic task killer which handles most of the issues you may be worried about. You just have to make sure you don't select anything with voice to be killed.

  69. Sarah says:

The Intercept is not a good phone. I have noticed that it lags horribly when switching between screens, it is very slow to respond to my touch when using the haptic keys, and it freezes often. In addition to being laggy, when texting, the screen does not accurately read my touch! I switched over from an iPhone, so I definitely know how to use a touch screen!

  70. Guest says:

When I signed up for sprint I wanted the Evo or Epic. Guess what, neither was available. The sales rep asked what I wanted to do with the phone. I replied, texting, web, apps, and talk. He said oh no problem check out this intercept it will do all of that. Less than 60 days into a brand new sprint contract, this phone was the worst mistake I ever made and everyone at sprint has basically said I'm S.O.L. I even emailed dan@sprint.com the supposed CEO. Guess what, waste of time. You email Dan and get to talk to Mike or Joe, wtf is that all about?!?! DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! IF YOU HAVE IT AND YOU ARE WITHIN YOUR 30 DAYS TAKE IT BACK!!!!!!!! IF YOU DON'T HAVE PROBLEMS NOW, YOU WILL. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!!

  71. Ashley Nicole says:

I got this phone last week…. I generally love it. At times the home and back button dont work. and today it kept shutting down on me. I like the apps especailly pandora.

  72. Patti Teufel says:

Anyone thinking about getting an Intercept – DON'T! We recently switched to Sprint from Verizon. The service is fine but the Intercept is awful! We bought five phones – two Heros, two Intercepts and some other basic phone. The Heros are working fine. I first had trouble with my Intercept about two months after purchasing it. I was finally able to return it to Best Buy after speaking with the manager but had to get another Intercept. It's working fine so far (about two weeks) but I'm afraid to download apps now. The other Intercept is doing the same thing mine was. Once they start having problems they just continue to get worse.

  73. Jon says:

You guys need to factory reset your phones ie erase all data and applications. Make sure your important stuff is backed up to the SD card mms messages and such. And don’t download apps and see if you still have issues. The phones are mostly fine and its a conflict t of applications and their related phone settings. Oh And I downloaded the fast reboot app and its great. As far as the data connection issues perform this Don’t download any Apps and if you still have the issue its a malfunctioning phone. Since you have a years manufacturer warranty a replacement should be free of charge mine was. Oh and I have a Moment. But what’s the difference same build of android 2.1 and same hardware architecture. Like they said good entry level phone. Remember it only has an 800mhz processor and 256k of ram. So don’t expect it to be a rocket. And if you really hate it buy a used HTC phone. And stop bitching that’s all.

Sent from my moment with no problems!!

  74. John Q Public says:

This phone is awesome purely because you can get it on a $25 a month plan from virgin mobile and then use android apps to tether the unlimited Internet to your computer (and then use google voice or something when you use up the 300 minutes). A 1200 min plan is only $45 too…

I was a long time sprint customer, but I dropped them when they re-did the rules on tethering and started charging insane amounts for simple data access…

A few problems are worth it when you only pay 25 a month!!

  75. Tracy says:

I bought my Intercept from a corporate store and they imported my contacts from my old AT&T to this one. When I want to send a new text, I have to go to the contact first, then begin the text. I can only start in "Create New Message" and select contacts if it's someone I added after the import. How do I get all of my old contacts to pop up this way too? Also, how do I send a text to several people at once?

  76. Wundt says:

We have 2 Intercepts and in general are disappointed.

When it works… I love it. I use a number of apps, including Pandora, Weather Bug, and Listen. I often use it to surf the web and check my email. However…

The phone often freezes and crashes. In fact, the primary purpose of the phone, making and receiving calls, is often impossible because of the phone performance. The phone will ring but the phone's interface won't respond when I click the answer button. This happens about 1/3 of the time. I also sometimes have problems making outgoing calls, where the dialing interface wont open. Also, some settings seem to magically turn off, for example, sometimes the wifi won't connect to a saved network and the other day, it was stuck in "Plane Mode". I reboot almost daily, either because it is frozen or just to avoid freezing.

I could go on, but you get to idea. Sprint's only solution is to give us a replacement. We have been through a couple, and I read one account of someone on their 4th replacement. Given the poor performance, I wonder is Sprint and/or Samsung shouldn't recall the phone and give us all refunds. The number traded-in must be costing them a fortune.

  77. GirlGeek says:

Some of these comments scare me since I'm considering this phone. I now have a MyTouch 3G from T-Mobile and for everything's that said here about the Intercept can be said about the MyTouch. It's very slow loading, sometimes you'll get black screens, you may have to press a button more than once for the internal computer to recognize the command, it crashes a lot depending on what apps you have loaded, etc… I can go on and on BUT the biggest reasons why I want to move on from this phone is because it looks like it's for a child or teen, first of all and second and most importantly, I don't feel like being locked in to contracts anymore just to save money on the cost of the phone.

I say buy the phone outright, when you get sick of it, sell it to a friend or on EBay and move on to the next latest and greatest. The amount that I pay monthly with T-Mobile for it's mid-level service is too high in my opinion. I don't think anyone should pay a dime over $50 for smartphone/data services w/talk, text and e-mail. Not to mention that when the newer phones come out, you have to pay upwards of $399-$599 to buy it since you're locked in to a contract with not only the service, but the phone too. This means you can't upgrade until your 2 years is up. What kind of crap is that???

I'm about to go in to the store to check this phone out for myself. If I like it, I'll get it soon. If not, then well, I'll have to find a creative way to get a hand on someone's refurb'd iPhone 3GS since everyone is so concentrated on the iPhone 4. Should be near free by now.

Ive had my Intercept for about 3 months now. My phone has had minor problems since week one, which i have learned to deal with. The touch sensitivity is a little off and there is no calibration! So, if your Intercepts touch is weird for you…sucks. Sometimes i have to turn my phone on and off for it to fix a malfunction, like if its refusing to open a program. The past couple days ive noticed a problem with the phone recognizing its been plugged in to the charger. Last night i put it on the charger only to wake up this morning and discover it never charged, wiggling the plug doesnt help any. It kept saying it was plugged in, then it wasnt plugged in, then it was plugged in, then it wasnt plugged, so i turned it off to fix the problem. Turning it off did not fix the problem this time, it started turning on and off repeatedly until finally it turned off forever. As of right now i do not have a phone.

  79. Michele says:

I got my phone yesterday, haven't encountered any real problems with it like I've read above. I imagine that sending and receiving texts is more of a network (Sprint) issue than phone issue, I have not had any problems with it.

You can personalize your contacts i.e. ringtones and pictures etc. But be weary of how you download your ringtones. Myxer is a good site, but once they're downloaded there is currently no way to delete them, perhaps a software update should include a hold and delete option in the ringtone settings section for ringtones the owner has added.

I like the navigation option, it's nice to find businesses in the area your in, so if you're a traveler its great.

Texting has been fine, avid texter here and have not experienced any issues.

The phone is really easy to navigate if you take the time to explore it. And it never hurts to read the owner's manual if you need help figuring something out. 😀

Ths phone does lag. At times but I ain’t conplaining. I consder it a good first android phone. Its my first and its goood.

I do have 1 issue. It seems like the volume of my text notifications , alarms, and touchpad noise just automatically silent themselves. But when I look at the sound settings, everything is set on high and silent mode is off. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to fix that. I found out restarting my phone and making phone calls fixes it. But I don’t want to kee doing that everytime it happens. Can anyone email me the way to fix it? Julioca24@hotmail.com

  81. vlc46 says:

We purchased our phones back in July.. They were great for the first few weeks. Now we are having the same problems as everyone else here.. I am very frustrated because I have missed several important phone calls.. When the call comes in either the screen does not respond or the phone rings but is blank and there is no way to answer it..Turning it off and back on is only a temporary fix. I'm stuck with it till next Summer.. This really sucks cause I thought it was really cool. Hubby thought it was just me but obviously it's not. I can't believe i'm saying this but I wish I had my Rumor back..

  82. Chris says:

I just got the samsung epic but when i recieve a text message when the screen is idol the screen does not flash and only does sound and vibrates how do i get it to let me slide it to read the text immediatly instead of having to hit the lock button everytime??????

  83. B Caprara says:

This phone is a real problem. I can’t tell whether it is a software or hardware problem but it is very slow. In fact sometimes it won’t even show me the screen button to answer a phone call before it goes to voice mail. Sprint/Samsung/Google need to fix this ASAP or give me a new phone. Monday I go back to the store and cause trouble. DON’T GET THIS PHONE!!

  84. Benjamin Casper says:

Ive had this phone for a few days and it does become a bit sluggish at times as far as running multible apps, touch screen response, and home key response. However it is in my opinion that the positives out way the negatives with the Intercept. I've never had the phone freeze up on me. As stated in another comment it is a bit confusing as far as running apps goes, For exmple certain programs show up that are currently running for over three days and i have no clue what they are and cant figure out if stopping them will mess up my phone or not. Another example is if your running your music app(Not Pandora) the only way to exit it completely is to stop it in running apps which in my opinion is a flaw. However the samsung Intercept is a great entry level Android phone and its positives definately out way the negatives. I would definately reccomend this phone!

  85. Leanne says:

Just wondering if there is anyway to increase the amount you can send. I had the HTC Hero and I could send 1000kb bit i can barely send 10 seconds worth of data.

  86. Candice says:

Hi. Im only 11 and i got this phone and its great except for two things. When I send a pic message IT DOESNT WORK!!! i let it send overnight and in the morning IT WAS STILL SENDING!!! I did that like one week ago and when i look at that msg its still sending so im really confused. The other problem is that i cant recieve pic msg. On the first day i got it recieving pic msgs worked but now it doesnt. I get like a button next to the message saying download and when i click it says downloading and then NOTHING HAPPENS. My dad said the company might be too busy so i tried like later and IT STILL DOESNT WORK!!!!!! Its been like this for a week too. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY??? PLZZ ANSWER IF YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS STUPID FONES PIC MSG!!!!!!!!!

  87. Angel says:

I've had the Intercept for a couple wks now & can't figure out if or how I can set music ringtone for my text messages….only options I see are the factory ringtones…..if there is a way to tie my music for my text messages can someone tell me please? I figured out how to do it for individual callers–thanks in advance =)

  88. Meaghan says:

My intercept is slow and i have the problems with the home and back buttons, but i also can't receive or send picture messages to everyone. it's very strange.

  89. Will says:

By far the worst phone i have owned. I bought one the week it released back in july i believe and it has been nothing short of disappointment. dont use any apps like facebook if you have any chance of recieving a text or phone call at the same time. If you do happen to be using FB and recieve a phone call the whole phone freezes for up to 5 mins and sometimes you can not get it to respond without removing the battery and rebooting which takes another 2-5 mins. I would rather have a cheesy flip phone atleast i can get calls on it reliably. Also all the CRAP sprint preloads on it that you can not remove without root access burns up you battery, if you shut them off they restart on their own and burn your battery without your knowledge or consent.

  90. Cassandra says:

My buttons lag i have to hit them several times on occasion sometimes my phone may or may not vibrate and notify me of incoming txts sometimes will vib but no sound when i hit the buttons there will sometimes be sound to it i love the speech to text thing i can easily send messages while i'm driving without having to look at the keyboard i just speak and it puts it in i do get irritated with my phone sometimes and i wish that i could put an actual ringtone on my text messages

  91. James says:

This is the worst phone ever. I have now had it for a few months. From early on the buttons lagged and would sometimes lock up. Now anytime I do anything the android operating system wants to force close. It runs incredibly slow and I miss phone calls because of it. In fact I have to pull the battery out to reset it sometimes. I can't wait until I get another upgrade so I can get a good phone!

  92. r.joseph says:

Dont buy the Intercept it is a p.o.s. JUNK, problematic phone !! freezes, slow, internet wont work, screen wont unlock, hangs up, dials itself, function keys wont work, etc, etc. BEWARE !! Go to Sprints web site and read "recall the intercept" in the forum link.

  93. Atulita says:

Bottom Line: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! There are so many problems w/ this phone, that it's too long to list them here. For one, no battery life; it's a phone that makes it hard to place a call, and you have to use speakers 'cause if you touch you face to screen it goes ballistic.. it turns off by itself. Second: Touch screen does not respond properly; features are sluggish to say the list! The list goes on… NOT WORTH ANY MONEY!!!! Samsung should refund users or recall the stupid thing. That a rip off!!!

  94. Atulita says:

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. Simply not worth any money!!! The list of problems it's too big to post it all here. Can't place a phone call (remember this is a phone!) because the phone call set up it's poorly designed so it takes forever to place one, call/sound quality it's poor and so are the pictures. Touch screen it's a mess, and do not respond properly. There is NO battery life whatsoever! The phone turns itself off!!! You are forced to use speakers or you risk to cancel the call/message or add another caller by touching your face on screen. You can't end the call through the touch screen… Hard to do anything with it, it's sluggish to say the VERY list. Absolutely a nightmare!!! Samsung should recall it or send users a refund!!!

  95. i got this phone 3 days ago because my Moment's screen cracked so they were supposed to get the same model ordered in but instead got the updated version [Intercept]. when my friend who worked at sprint helped me sync my contacts from Gmail; i noticed it was bugged. i can't set separate contact ringtones. &it sucks because i have to re-add the number onto "phone" instead of "google." frustrating but it's okay. i dislike that it doesn't have flash photography like the Moment did. it's a lot smaller&less bulkier, so it's easy for me to carry around in my pocket. i dislike how i have to constantly have to press the back and home keys to get them to work. &i dislike how the search key is right next to the back button because since the back key doesn't react i get the search key to react LOL! don't really like the keyboard it has less symbols than the Moment which i had used certain symbols in my passwords so i had to use the touch keyboard. overall it's a decent phone. i like it but would like for them to update and debug the whole Gmail issue with not being able to set separate contact ringtones.

  96. Leana says:

I have had this phone for about 3 months and my issues are just getting worse. I didn't have any issues until about 1.5-2 months ago. I am always getting the florclosure messages. I hate when I am recieving a call it freezes and won't let me answer AND just recently when I want to send a text it will take literally a minute before the screen pulls up!! I just want to throw this damn phone at a wall!!! I also hate how when I am trying to hang up a phone call it takes a little while before my dial pad is on the screen to make another call.

  97. joe t says:

Not happy with this phone. The most recent is I am all of a sudden (past three weeks) not able to listen to or watch media from my churches site. I was able to before. No downloads either. I was told to visit the tech guys. Not at all happy with this phone or Sprints poor coverage or quality.

  98. Erica says:

the phone overall is good but occassionally when I pull up and app it opens it then closes it immediately an the only way to fix it is to take the battery out and restart the phone…other than that its a good phone.

  99. jamie says:

I have been a sprint customer for 9 months now, I started off with the samsung moment, I started having problems with that the first day I bought it and I had to take it back to the store and get a new one, I ended up sending the phone back to asurion and they told me I couldn’t get the same phone, they told me I had to get the samsung intercept, and this is the worse phone I ever had, I am so unhappy with this phone, I had to send it back twice, I’m about to take it back again for the 3rd time, this phone freezes way too much, it powers off by itself, it freezes during texting, sometimes it won’t let me dial out or answer callsits freezing right now while I’m writing this, its ashame that these phones cost so much and they don’t even work properly

  100. Leslie says:

I bought an Intercept a month ago and was immediately frustrated because my Jawbone would not connect consistently if at all. Or I could hear others, they could not hear me. I have an OLD LG Dare phone, which connects immediately. So I tried a different BlueTooth and it doesn't connect either. When it does finally connect, it may take me 30 minutes of turning on and off both phone and BlueTooth. I have not had satisfactory answers from Sprint, who I immediately let know of this problem. Too late now, they say. Past the 30 day warranty. That sucks! What do I do now?

  101. Jane says:

I have had the Intercept for three months with many of the same problems as others- unresponsive home key, locking up when receiving a call during a Facebook session, poor battery life. I have been counting down until I was eligible for my upgrade and cursing myself for not forking out the cash for the Evo, but I updated to Froyo today, and so far my issues have been fixed. Phone is much faster, no lockup, no force close messages and I still have over half my battery life at the end of the day, which is a big improvement. I'm trying not to get too excited because the phone has disappointed me in the past, but it looks like my Intercept might finally be the phone it was designed to be.

  102. Sarah says:

Worst phone Ive ever had!! So many problems I dont even know where to begin. The screen freezes constanly, the buttons on the phone hardly ever work and I end up pushing them furiously constantly. I continuously have to shut the phone off and back on an average of about two times A DAY. I harly ever have internet connection and cannot stand to use any other features of the phone because those as well are usually not working, slow, or freeze after the first few minutes. This phone is awful and I cant warn someone enough not to get it.

  103. josh says:

owI’ve had this phone less than 2 months and I have so many problems already first battery shortcircuited and started causiing my phone to act up when my phone tries to time out the or the light trys to go off the phone turns up the volume on its own so my phone won’t stay on silent or vibrate I hate samsung I’ve had nothing but bad expereinces with their touch screen phone I don’t see why they just don’t do the iphone glass screenand make their pruduct more sturdy and reliable oh and my phone by its self opens up the recent calls and calls the last I called and it does it multiple times I’m so aggrivated other than those problems the phone and ll its features of design are pretty good don’t buy intercept

  104. James W... says:

Ok, Here goes…first off I'm with Virgin Mobile but I have the same crummy Intercept! I'm about to save someone 8hrs of time unlike myself. I too was pulling my hair out trying to send MULTIPLE TEXT!! You can thank me later…It's Google's fault why it was so hard to send multiple text! 1: Go to your CONTACTS (not to any other groups you may have created) 2: Choose a name that you know for sure has a MOBILE NUMBER. 3: Hold down (highlight) that name for about 2-3sec another menu will pop up. 4: Click EDIT. 5: LOOK right below the picture placeholder you will see a tab that probably says VOICE (that's for GOOGLE's BS VOICE) click & change it to MOBILE…That's it You"re DONE (remember to save changes)!! 6: Go back & start a text, after you type in the first two letters all your mobile names with those letters will pop up at the bottom! CONGRATULATIONS!!

Would you believe after all that…my six text finally went out! Now the rest of my texts (singles) are blocked i.e. for some reason they're just sitting there. I can receIve text I just can't send out a reply…BUMMER!!

THANK YOU, Samsung Intercept / Virgin Mobile / Google Voice for CRAPPING all over me!

  105. James W... says:

UPDATE: kinda fixed it myself, factory reset the phone (backed up contacts & apps). Now text is working kinda…It works but I can't text fast & furiously there's a lag when I hit send, it takes a sec or two to go. Definitely not instant more like pokey pokey, but at least I can text now.

  106. Cori Baker says:

i got the sprint intercept yesterday. it is a okay phone. it has some issues that i am worried about, and wondering if anyone could help.
    1. i don't know how to set a ringer for text's.
    2. i am constantly pressing the back button to get to home..
    3. when someone calls, it rings about two times on their side before it rings once on my side…
    4. the phone goes black when i am talking to someone….
    5. i don't know how to delete icons on my homepage.
if your debating to get this phone or not. i wouldn't! it has many things that just don't fit my expectations.
    1. you can only set three alarms.
    2. the camea is a little blurry.
    3. you can only buy app's with a credit card. it won't go on your monthly bill, or whatever plan you may have.
    4. battery sucks.
    5. the phone goes black when i am on the phone.
    6. i don't like that you can slide it three times when your on your homepage.

    1. michelle says:

2.just press the home button, its the one with a house on it..
      4. it turns black so your face doesnt touch any of the buttons and mess with the call, thats a good feature.
5.hold the icon for like 2 seconds and youll see a little trashcan at the bottom of the screen.

ALL SMARTPHONES GO BLACK WHEN YOUR ON THE PHONE. GOOD LORD.

  107. Arianna says:

Anyone know how to send txts to multiple people on the samsung intercept after the update.
I was able to do it then my phone updated and now I can't figure it out.
Also is there any possible way to undo and update?

  108. jahred says:

I’ve got everyone on here beat. 3 intercepts in 6 months and sprint tells me there’s nothing they can do. ATK is a must have, but the reos will tell you that’s your problem, which is BS. Terrible phone all around. No battery life no flash no app works properly reception sucks. The new android 2.2 completely ruined everything had to reset twice no help there. Sprint has a clause where if your phone is replaced 3 times on the 4th you get something different just keep taking them back they will never work. Tech support admitted (off record of course) that this phone is by far the most problematic there is

  109. IceCream619 says:

i just got the samsung intercept its great i love it! Its beautiful i love the sound its awesome the only thing is i cannot figure out how to put one of my customize songs as my text messaging ringtone it only shows the ringtones it came with on the phone already and their lame i want one of my customize songs instead…Does anyone know how to set a ringtone for the text messages? I figured out how to set my customize songs as my main ringtone and for my individual contacts, i just cant figure out how to set one for my text messages! Please HELP ANYBODY!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

    1. skysayzrawr says:

Okay, I had the same problem, too. There's a free app you can get that will take over all your messaging, etc. called Handcent SMS. If you download that, it'll let you customise your text ringtones.

  110. James W... says:

UPDATE: When texting I want to break this phone!! It takes anywhere from 0-60 sec to send a text! This is just soooo damn frustrating! Now I can't get text from two different banks and nobody knows why! After I had to do a factory reset my bank text alert can't come through!
    Arrrgh!!!

  111. karen learn says:

What. The hell ! I have been a sprint costmrr 10 yrs. This phone makes want to stop even this text has a 3 sec. Delay ! What thhell? The up date. On sat has mess up almost EVER THING In my phone ! HELP!

  112. joyce893 says:

I just got the samsung intercept and i love it except the text messages are to small for me ,does anyone know if the text could be made larger?

  113. Dee says:

GARBAGE! I hate my samsung intercept! It is a very slow phone it does not respond to the keys right away or the tilt. The screen always randomy cuts off and stays off for hours at a time. I have to literally take the phone apart for it to come back on! how convenient? No this phone sucks!!

  114. Anthony says:

Ive had my Intercept for two weeks. It is a good basic phone for texting, but it constantly locks up and the only way to reset it is to pull out the battery. It has other minor problems as well. Spend the money and get a phone you will not be frustrated with.

  115. Deanna says:

I just got this phone yesterday and its driving me up the wall. i downloaded a couple songs from myxer but i couldnt find them. after what seemed like hours found them under notification rington im my sound settings. How do you delete them and even better can i just move them to my music folder. please help its driving me crazy

  116. willi says:

I found that the home and back button problems I was having were due to the screen protector I put on. Trim it so that these buttons are uncovered and the results are much better.

  117. nursek says:

I love this phone, besides the battery life which I am told is due to the Android system. Does anyone else have this problem? The past few weeks the touch screen will not work at all when the keyboard is open. Any ideas on how to fix?

  118. I've owned my Intercept for a few weeks now… First impression was it's not bad… but being my first Android phone, I really had nothing to compare it to… So I worked though the bugs that have been discussed… discovered that it doesn't take much to start slowing the phone down as well as bring up the low space warning… I have found an app for cleaning the cache that helps a lot with keeping the phone fairly speedy (at least compared to how the phone was performing) I've also stream lined my apps to just the minimum that I need for day to day uses… this seems to help. The only issue that I'm still trying to deal with is the "mind of it's own" turning itself off… It seems to like doing this when I leave the phone sitting unattended for a few hours… Oh and the battery life is pretty bad 🙁
All in all though, for a budget Android phone, as well as a first Android phone, I'm happy overall.

    1. skysayzrawr says:

What you have to do is use the chord that came with the phone to connect it to your computer. Have the images saved to your computer, then drag them over to the 'Removable Disk' folder under 'Computer'. This will put them into your phone and keep them there unless you delete them. You can then set them as your icons, background, use them in texts, whatever.

  119. AII says:

IO've had the phone for a couple weeks. First smart phone so nothing to compare to but it seems to operate fine. A little slow but not bad.

The battery life is a joke though. The Virgin Mobile has the audacity to list the standby time as 254 hours. Seriously now…. I can shut down my apps and it barely last 7 hours while I sleep. Also, the screen goes blank for no reason now and sometimes I have to take the battery out and in before it comes back on. That's very convenient.

If it's working it's good but wouldn't buy it again.

  120. leah says:

this is the worst phone that i've ever had. very slow, bad battery life, freezes up, takes forever to answer a call at sometimes miss the call. i def do not recommend it to anyoneee

  121. I have just gotten this phone , and i saw reviews that it would freeze and such. So I expected it to happen. It does seem to lag a bit, but it is a entry level android phone..so didn't expect the world. It works just fine for what I wanted. I mainly wanted to have it for games and apps. My phone did freeze a couple times, but some of it is when I am teryin to make it do more then one thing at a time. I always try to close my aps when i am not using them so to keep from draining battery and CPU usage. One or two aps would open to a black screen, even the anti virus did this. So I uninstalled it , and will reinstall later to see if I still get this issue.

  122. Crystal says:

Ok so I’ve had this phone since December I love it it does have its problems bt I personally haven’t had any major problems. To set ringtones to your txt messages you have to download an app. I downloaded ringtone mmaker and it work great for me. To set a ringtone for each individual contact go to the name click optines and select the the ringtone you want. You can and music to your phone by using the memory card and adapter that came with your phone or you could use the usb cord. Connect your usb or insert your memory card into a computer that already has music and copy the songs to your phone or memory card. Make sureyou turn on usb storage or what ever it says when you connect the cord that’s the only ways the songs will copy if you use that method. For anymore questions feel free to email me at crw432@gmail.com. or crystalw3022000@yahoo.com hope this helps.

  123. My Intercept is slow when I type. Sometimes its fast I I’m lucky. My home keep will not work unless I continue to press the back button. Its annoying how when I’m talking on the phone it constantly shuts off the screen and back on. Sometimes I text while I’m on the phone but it continues to shut the screen off and on. I like this phone, but my only three problems is:

    1. Home & Back button doesn’t work often
    2. Screen shuts on & off randomly.
    3. I reviewed peoples comments on downloading apps on THEIR Intercept, but mine doesn’t let me download.

    1. skysayzrawr says:

You sure about #3? You should be able to go to 'market', search for the app you want, and then download it. When you get the phone, the market button will be on a little picture of a shopping bag on the front page. :/

  124. MikeH says:

I bought this phone in December, on a Virgin no contract plan. It's not bad, but I have a couple beefs.
    1. When I shut down the phone, sometimes the 4 lights and screen backlight stay on and I have to take the battery out to shut them off. This will also happen if it's off and the 'on' button gets bumped. They don't always shut off, even after a long time. This thing NEEDS a lock-off mode.
    2. Contacting the phone network causes lag. If I hang up with the touchscreen button, it lags. If I hang up with the hardware button, it seems OK. So, I use the hardware buttons for phones, and it's fine.

  125. WILLIAM LYON says:

my wife got the phone in aug 10 and for the first 2 weeks the phone was great. then it all started . screen to slow, you cant answer calls because it takes 3 to 4 times trying to unlock it.you have to update your profile every other day or you cant get on the internet, and you have to shut the phone compleatly off every day or it will start to lock up and then you cant do anything. for Christmas i got the HTC evo 4g and it was great. well shes my wife so she gets what she wants. she wanted my phone so we had the phone numbers swapped and i took her phone. i just figured that she had to many apps on it., well i do not have anything on the phone and it is still garbage. sprint store has checked it out 4 times only to tell me there is not anything wrong and i can not upgrade till aug. i ask about giving me at least a partial credit towards A NEW PHONE and that is not how they do things. you replace it with insurance 2 times and then you can possibly get a different model after you do that you have paid just as much as to just buy one phone $500 or 2x replacement = $200 then purchase phone at a discount for $300 WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

    1. WTF? says:

Bought this phone Nov. 2010 from VM and have had all these problems with terrible VM service. The most annoying issue is that I can email my videos to friends but they get no sound. VM techs are clueless. Their solution for all problems is to remove battery and wait 4 hours. Need an LG phone ASAP!

  126. Debi says:

I love my Samsung Intercept ! But have recently had a problem with Sprint Nav not loading or finding the satelite , I have read alot of reviews about Sprint Nav and there seems to be an issue with the Sprint Nav application , Not the phone . So hopefully Sprint can figure out and fix the problem SOON !! other than that I love my phone and it does everything i tell it to . I think some of the issues ppl are having is that they do not know how to operate it correctly ?

  127. jason says:

If you see a problem posted on this site, I have experienced it. The first version of android that came on this phone would loose its internet connection at least once a day and require a reboot to fix. Android 2.2 fixed the internet problem only to introduce a host of new problems. 2.2 also removed some of the cool functions that the original OS had, like the pull down screen to turn on and off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It can be very difficult to answer this phone because the piece of garbage processor does not have time to launch the phone app. I wish someone would make a smart phone with a phone built-in, instead of making it a smart device with a phone app. If you have an opportunity to destroy one of these junk phones, please do. I wold love to see pictures and videos of these phones being run over, shot, blended, blown up or shredded.

I have this phone since December 2010. I am using Virgin Mobile No Contract plan. Here is a list of issues that I experienced.
    (1) Synchronizing this device with Google is far from perfect. The synchronization results with every email address from/to which I ever received/sent email to download to my contact list and thus render it unusable. I solved it my creating a "fake" Gmail account and synchronizing my Intercept with it. This solved the clutter problem but it still will not synchronize group information – every contact is dumped into one group.
    (2) The button response on the phone is either slow or erratic. Sometimes the phone stays connected after pressing the hang up button, which causes being charged for more minuted that I actually used. Sometimes the hard hang up button caused the screen light to go off instead of turning the phone off. Resetting the phone does not resolve the problem.
    (3) The internet connectivity is a big problem. I lose connectivity almost daily and I need to reset the phone by removing the battery. It helps for a while but then the problem comes back.
    (4) The battery life varies considerably. Sometimes it lasts for two days with very light use, sometimes it is half-depleted after 8 hours and no use at all. I make sure that no applications are running, but that does not seem to be connected to the battery life.
    (5) Voice calls seem reliable but no different than those on the $19.95 LG Flare which I previously owned.
In sum, the performance of this phone/service is pretty disappointing

    1. Bernie says:

I also have this phone, I have found a few 'fixes' for the problems you are experiencing. First, the internet connectability: they say to put the phone into airplane mode, then back out of airplane mode. Better than powering down and popping the battery out each time.
For the battery life, download an app killer application. Sometimes the apps run in the background instead of turning off like they're supposed to. The app killer will close them when the phone is in sleep mode. I can get two full days out of my phone (but I don't get a lot of calls).

  129. Mon says:

I HATE THIS PHONE. It is so moody. I've had this phone since last July. It is so slow and unresponsive to touch. I have missed a ton of phone calls because the slider bar refused to slide. The screen was cracked last night (high heel) and I'm actually relieved because now I can get rid of this piece of junk phone.

  130. Chas says:

I've had an Intercept on a Virgin plan for about five weeks. Some things are great — some things not so much. So far no dropped calls and very good reception. Like having the slide out keyboard. Syncing to my yahoo account and work email were pretty painless. However, the buttons are slow. Can't always answer calls no matter many times or how long I press "answer." Home key doesn't always work. Today, the phone wouldn't power on; checked forums and found this was experienced by other Intercept owners. ("Remove the battery for an hour…"!?) I run very few apps but the battery doesn't last long; I have a charger at home and work to keep the phone going through the day. Not a top of the line smart phone, but until it makes financial sense to do upgrade I'll try to adapt to the downers…

  131. Diane says:

I am having the problem that the phone will shut down and you have to take the battery out in order for it to start up again, Is Samsung going to address this problem? Obviously I am not the only one that is having this issue.

  132. Bernie says:

I also hate this phone. Wouldn't be too bad if Samsung ever got the bugs worked out (and there are a lot of them). I have had this since November 2010, and have had to have the phone replaced 4 times. Now (March 2011) the phone won't turn on at all. Removing the battery for an hour is not a very acceptable fix. Buttons don't work properly, internet access is hit-and-miss, and applications crash constantly. Pretty sad piece of technology in my opinion.

  133. Jess says:

    I. Hate. This. Phone. But my main question (among many) is as follows: Whenever I delete a picture, it magically reappears as the thumbnail of whatever the newest picture I took was (!?!) I would assume that deleting a picture….actually DELETES it…but, then it comes back as whatever new picture I took.

Any thoughts as to how to fix this issue? Or, does this phone just generally suck in a major way?

  134. natasha says:

I got. Phone from sprint a Samsung intercept it had had problems from the start I went back to where I. Got it and they kept telling me it as this that then right at the end the said they order me a new phone they didn’t my phone in at the time. I wait the 3-5days no phone whent down to store asked where’s. My phone they said oh we forgot to order it sorry. Now you have to go through sprint on-the phone and get a referb. Phone and that phone came and it has the same software problems if not more deletes my contact won’t down Lod update overall crap. But above all that sprint sucks. Lied to me over and over told they send me a new phone then told me at end of call it would be a new 250 dollars when I told them I didn’t want the new intercept. They sent it anyway and when I refused it at the door thy charge me money. Anyways.

  135. kemoh says:

I bought this phone in nov of 2010 on sprint 2 year contract. Out of the box the screen was touchy and would freeze or lag as I tried to use it. Hardware button didn't work most of the time and would freeze on incoming calls. After froyo update I lost all of my notes several contacts and the quick contact search and voice dialing don't work now. Since then I. Struggle with service I have 5 different nav apps (I cannot delete) and none of them work right cuz my gps don't work right[if I cannot delete a app from my phone it means its a part of my phone] I don't bother with a app killer cuz even though it can take my phone up to 30+ secs to register I did something it only takes 5 second to resart all the apps I jsut killed so that's pointless. And here recently my texting will just jump to the send or other software button on its own or select and execute fuctions on its own after long press on screen. Most of these things happen at ramdom points and times (always keeping me guessing)and sprint says nothing is wrong with itand I have to deal with it. If I wanted a POS I would have saved my money and went fishing in my toilet!I would never ever recomend this phone or any samsung product for that matter to anyone. They are busy pushing their crap out there on us that they don't beta test for all the gliches. (Sounds like a nother fine microst product to me) and even free with a 2 yr. Contract is paying to much for all this trouble!

  136. andrea says:

my daughter and I got the intercept in aug and when it updated both our phones went crazy. They go into airplanemode wont read the sd card looses my contacts. I took the phones to sprint they say there bad and send me knew ones. Now my new one updated and is doing the same thing. So I called Samsung and they skirt around the issue and sprint now says this phone is bad after a week and I need new one. The tech at the sprint store was not really bright and had no clue. I am not very happy.

  137. Takiyah Munirah says:

I've had this phone about two weeks. I got rid of t-mobile service and moved to virgin mobile for a cheaper plan. The intercept is an upgrade from the sidekick I used to have. The phone has some advantages to my old phone and disadvantages. Advantages: Access to Android Market/Current Apps, touch screen, louder speakerphone. Disadvantages: the screens jump suddenly to screens that you don't intend to go to (especially annoying when trying to make a call) and then takes a long time to get back to the main screen . Making a phone call can require moving through several screens, you can sometimes type in a name from and make a call but its still a bit cumbersome. The bottom line is that a phone's a main purpose is making a call and that's not the easiest function on this phone. Maybe I will figure something out to fix the problem. I did see a speed dial function that I haven't used yet. The main issue which brought me to this site is that I cannot get my contacts which were on my SD card to transfer onto this new intercept. Guess I am going to have to hand input 250 contacts. 🙁

  138. Jay says:

This phone is a complete piece of garbage in my opinion. It has about 2 yards of reception and constantly freezes up. I have gone days at a time without it being able to send or receive texts or calls. This may just be my experience but I would not recommend this phone to anybody, in this world, period.

  139. khristina says:

this is the worst phone ever! I have had nothing but problems ! Its been replaced twice for the same issues!
The phone doesn't hold a charge, shuts off , freezes, and I have to take the
Battery out and put it back in to get it to charge. I have been thru 5 chargers
And in and out of sprint with these problems. All they want to do is give me the same phone over and over again as a replacment over and over again. The flash sucks and the buttons freeze too.
    Not happy at all!

  140. DianeP says:

I have had this phone for 6 months now and it worked well at first. Now I have constant messages that I am roaming when I am not, texts are not being sent or received, and if I do get a text to go out it sends it twice. I have found this phone to be such an annoyance I am considering going back to my reliable Blackberry.

  141. lisa says:

When i first brought my phone all my contacts i could put them into groups such as friends, family, work, etc but one day i up grade it and all my contacts and my facebook friends was together and i want to know how can i saperate them again so all my contacts will be in one section and all my facebook friends will all be in one section?

HATE this phone. My family owns 4 of them. We purchased them this past November. We have had nothing but problems since we took them out of the box. We have trouble picking up a signal most of the time. In our home we have half a bar to no bars. We also have constant messages that we are roaming when we are not, texts are not being sent or received, texts may be sent twice if they get sent or messages arrive hours, sometimes days after they were sent if they actually come through. We requested a phone change less than one week into our contract and were told it was due to their 3G upgrade to the network. We have since called multiple times with the same complaints with no resolve. They offered an Airrave, which will use my internet to produce a signal supposedly strong enough to help with the problem we are having. When we expressed concern that it would slow the high speed internet speed, they stated, “at least the phone will get a signal.”

We are very disappointed with this product. We recently requested the phone be exchanged for a different phone and were told they could replace it with the same model only. We were asked to travel 30 minutes from our home to return our phones an invoke the 1 year warranty on the phone (this was after speaking to 7 DIFFERENT people for 2 hours!!). We traveled the distance to be told they don’t understand why someone told us this, as they would need to take the phone for a few days to diagnose it and if something was found to be defective it could take a few more days to get a replacement. Hmmmm, I am a mom of 3, only phone my children can reach me on, I am thinking NO!

Not only is the phone AWFUL, Sprint is willing to do nothing to resolve the current issues. Tired of the run around and just want a phone that works!

P.S. You can’t tell me this is a coverage issue when complete strangers approach you in the middle of the public library and say, “do you have major issues with that phone?” All the while, sharing all of the same issues you are experiencing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!!

  143. Kelsey Mikolics says:

I am on the Sprint network, not the Virgin Mobile network, and sometimes I do hate this phone, but I read through some of the comments and I am not getting half the problems that you guys are. All my buttons work fine.. they have never NOT worked. I agree that the phone is very slow at times, but my internet connection works all the time unless of course I am in an area with little to no service or I am data roaming. I have had this phone for almost a year. The only constant problem that I have is that my charger keeps somehow breaking. No matter what I do, the part that goes in the phone keeps bending, and eventually it gets to the point where I have to hold it in to use it while it’s charging. I don’t know if it’s my fault, or if the placement of the charger output is bad, but I am on my 4th charger in a year.

  144. Helen Huddleston says:

I loved this phone when I first got it…then I dropped it in a toilet and sprint sent me a ‘new’ one….since i’ve gotten this ‘new’ one i’ve had nothing but problems…it lags constantly…to the point where i can barely make a phone call and i can’t get on facebook…without it having to error and force close.

  145. BUSTER GOOD says:

BUTT DIALS ,KEYPAD HALF ALREADY LOOSE,DIFFICULT TO USE WOULDN’T RECCOMEND ESPECIALY CONSIDERING THE PRICE, IM GOING BACK TO BLACBERRY

  146. okay so my intercept keeps saying message not sent even though people message me back. I have updated and tried to find out why this is happening and I’ve had no luck. This phone turns off on it’s own at times also and it just periodically needs to be restarted. Phone not good. Any help with my messaging problem?

  147. I hate this phone. The battery doesnt last me more than 6 hours, after a full night of charging, and on standby. Its slow and doesn’t pick up signal. The charger’s connection sucks. I will charge it for 12 hours, and it will only charge 1/4 of the battery.

  148. The Intercept is the worst phone I’ve ever had. I would need 2 pieces of paper so list all the problems that are wrong with it. Making a phone call will get you so stressed you will want to punch a hole in the wall. Going through everyday life with this phone is a punishment no man should endure.

  149. crystal weldon says:

I have had this phone for over a year. Worst phone I have ever owned. Awful doesn’t even describe the phone- hard to answer calls~ worst battery~ freezes all the time~ delayed texts, if you even get them….ugggggg horrid

  150. Anonymous says:

Piece of junk and it just keeps on getting worse! Drops calls all the time. Performs random functions all by itself, including placing calls! Changes recipients of a text before you are aware of the change, and you end up sending texts to the wrong person. I attributed some of these things to human error in the beginning, but as I said, it continues on and on. Ridiculous! I’m fairly tech savvy, not a genius, but I can find my way around a computer and use a smart phone. This phone does stuff that defies all logic. It has to be one of the poorest phones that Samsung ever made. I’m stuck with it for a year yet!

  151. Yucky Intercept says:

Changed plans the beginning of the year to VM. Sad part is I paid out right for 2 intercepts for both me and my wife for the beyond talk plans so upgrading or swapping isn’t even an option right now.
Absolute worst android phone ever! Very disappointed…you get what you pay for and since this was an entry level android it sure as heck acts and performs like it the bottom of the line entry level phone. Upgraded to op system 2.2 froyo thinking it was going to make a difference.Battery life is horrible, it drains just by looking at it never mind actually using it. Freezes a lot, drops calls a lot, gets real hot to the touch sometimes and then the battery drains even faster, slow…slow…..slow.If I could have picked the worst phone on the market for both me and my wife , this one is it.If my wife were to put up a review directly under this one right now all she would say is……

    “^^^^ DITTO! ^^^^^”

    1. INTERCEPT_HATER says:

I currently have the same problem. I was supposed to be due for an upgrade this month howeever this new upgrade every 20 months business sucks..SPRINT BLOWS!!

I love my phone, that my son bought for me.I just love it!! I’am still learning alot of its applications and updating it,but it has began to get slow and it turns off on me all of the sudden. Why? I was thinking that it might be the battery, but then again I dont know honestly if anyone can help? Please,Please let me know.

  153. Teaanderson45 says:

I have this phone and its not bad for me. It does shut off and it bothers me. My keys always work perfectly fine. I’ve been scrolling through these comments and your all saying the battery dies quickly. But do you have the. Advanced Task Killer app? Its free in the market and your phone will be there all day. Just charge it every night and when I wake up in the morning its ready to go. I am always on Facebook and YouTube and texting. During the times I’ve had phone calls only 1 was dropped but I was in the middle of nowhere. I have the Virgin Mobile plan because I get the $25 unlimited texting and data and 300 minutes plan. I’ve been with virgin mobile for years and the only bad part is I don’t always have full coverage. I haven’t even had this phone for a month yet. Another thing that bothers me is how my fun apps don’t work. The screen pn this phone doesn’t have enough resolutuon for my app bakery story. Fruit ninja and angry birds wouldn’t load correctly either. I eventually took them off because ei would always have to force close them. Since I’m a texter I love the advantage of the slideout qwerty keyboard because it increases the speed. O aso like how you can speak and it will command the phone or txt the words for you. I love how loud the speaker can get so I can be sure to hear my different and fun ringtones I got from the app Zedge on this phone. I really love this phone but it does have kinks. I mean nothings perfect! This phone is definately an upgrade from my LG Rumor 2 from Virgin Mobile. I hope I solved the battery issue for all ya!

  154. less than satisfactory says:

this phone was great for the first month, after that I noticed my txt messaging wouldn’t go through, I also had a hard time getting a signal for the internet.  I’ve only had the phone for 6 months and it’s been downhill.  Unfortunately I didn’t read reviews on the phone prior to purchasing…apparently several users complain about the same issues.

  155. Cwoods1227 says:

DITTO!!!!! To all the negative comments… I am having all the same issues with my intercept, I have had my phone for almost a year.  It was okay for the first week but after that it started getting worse and worse. And sprint sucks, they wont do anything about it.  I called over 10 times and have even taken it back to the sprint store and the only advice they could offer me to fix it is to restore it to factory setting. Really?!?… restoring this phone will not even begin to help the ridiculous problems it has. I cant wait until this summer to upgrade to a different phone.  I just wish that sprint would step up and do something abouit it. especially for a customer that has had service with them for 10 years…

  156. redvannie says:

I, too, have had major issues with this phone.  Sprint has exchanged it once for me ($35 fee for reconditioned) and even that one has issues.  I’ve taken it in a few times and they run it through the tests.  Usually shows something is wrong and they work on it, but it only works okay for a short while.  I’m not sure the problem is all Sprint.  I was told once that really I should’ve taken up the phone problem with SAMSUNG.  After all, they are the one who made the phone.  I do need to limp by on it till we update the contract in a few months. Sometimes it’s pretty frustrating since we disconnected our landline and depend on the cell phones now.  Just went to send a text and the touchscreen isn’t working.  Have to say we’ve had good service from Sprint itself for many, many years.  I’m not keen on a Samsung phone after this one.  The one thing I really like is the slide out querty keyboard.  Makes texting a breeze.

  157. butter fingers says:

I have dropped this phone onto concrete and tile floors so many times, it’s quite funny, everyone goes silent except for me, I just laugh. The back flies off, the battery flies out, and I just laugh and put it back together without a problem at all.

I was going to get the Wildfire S but my daughter had one and the screen broke the first time she dropped it, didn’t even drop it maybe a foot or so either.

So I’ll just keep this slow little TANK for as long as I can after seeing that. Of course being grandfathered onto the 25 dollar plan is nice, too.
