iOS 4 Verses iOS 3 iPhone Battery Test

There have been numerous complaints over Apple’s iOS 4 running on the iPhone 3G delivering slow performance, but what about battery life with iOS 4 on an iPhone 3G?

Well according to an article over on Dailytechmag, they decided to put that to the test, testing whether the OS update negatively affects battery life on an iPhone 3G.

Going by Lifehacker;s instructions they downgraded an iPhone 3G which was running iOS 4 to iOS 3.1.3 and ran several tasks, after which they re-upgraded the device to iOS 4 and rerun the same tasks.

They found that the iPhone 3G configured with iOS 3 lasted 5% less (approximately 10 minutes) than when running iOS 4, which isn;lt a great deal of difference but they expected the battery life to fall not rise. Application downloading was faster with iOS 4 but downloading a rented film was faster with iOS 3.

So lets hear from our readers that have an iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS who have upgraded to iOS 4, have you experienced better to worse battery life?

Upgraded my 3GS to 4.01 and my battery life really tanked. Now have to carry a car charger in my purse and had to buy another charger for work. Can't get 12 hours. Dropped my brightness, cut off my Bluetooth while not driving, can't use Trapster, seldom use mapping program that tracks where I am, and on and on and on. Really sorry I upgraded. My co-worker just dropped back to 3GS. My phone gets hot at times. Not happy.
