White iPhone 4 Delay, What’s Changed in Just 12 Days?

If you remember, Apple held a press conference back on the 16th of this month concerning the antenna issues with the iPhone 4 whereby Apple boss Steve Jobs attempted to explain what was wrong and what Apple intended to do about it.

What has this to do with the white iPhone 4? Well as I remember, during said Apple press conference, Steve Jobs announced that the white iPhone 4 will start shipping at the end of July, someone correct me if I’m wrong but on checking back with several live blogs of the event, Jobs did say this.

However the word is that the white iPhone 4 is now delayed until “later in the year” so the question is what has changed since the 16th of July when Steve Jobs stood on that stage and announced to the iPhone world the white iPhone WILL begin shipping by the end of July?

Was Steve Jobs simply pandering to the iPhone public trying to allay the gripes that Apple was taking too long to get the white iPhone 4 in public hands, and thus keep customers quiet?

It has been said manufacturing problems are causing the delay, Apple is looking to fix the antenna issue before releasing the white version, and Apple can’t make enough so it waiting until they have sufficient stock, but what is the real reason?

Isn’t it about time Apple stopped beating about the bush and avoiding the question and kept their customers informed as to just why they can’t release the white iPhone 4 and stop their customers from having to guess and speculate when or if they will ever get their hands on the white iPhone 4?

  1. It is another setback once again for Apple it will be interesting to see what's next in the news regarding iPhone issues (antenna, manufacturing and service charges) and their steps to refund cases won’t make up for the iPhone 4's lack of function over form.

It's a shame to see so many issues with the iPhone 4 after so many people waited for it's release. What's more of a shame is that it seems Apple knew about some of these issues already, such as the problem with reception.

But Apple have created such a loyal following that people may just put up with what issues there are for the sake of owning the latest Apple product.
Personally, I'd be happier with an older iPhone – at least then the issues are all ironed out.

However, it's also interesting to see how much excitement new technologies can bring. New technology and innovation is important for new business, illustrated by entrepreneurship grants and new business competitions like http://www.ukesnc.com.

    Guess it's not all bad!

Totally agree, they should keep us informed. IMO they are withholding date because there are people out there, like myself, that are waiting for the white model in the hope that they will have fixed the antenna problems. If that is the case and they have fixed it, then no-one is going to want the black one and Apple are going to make a HUGE loss. If they keep us hanging on for a release date there may be some that will get fed up of waiting and just buy the black one anyway.
