Motorola Droid 2 Experiencing Signal Issues

The latest smartphone out of the Motorola camp to play on the Verizon network is of course the new Motorola Droid 2, and the handset hasn’t been available to the public all that long, but there are already reports that the Droid 2 is having issues.

According to an article over on Mobile Crunch by Greg Kumparak, they are hearing several reports that the new Motorola Droid 2 is having some signal problems, although he does say that at this stage it is difficult to gauge if the signal issue is widespread.

However the article does say that amongst the people they know who have had the Motorola Droid 2 for a couple of days they are saying early Droid 2 units do look to be having signal problems and they the signal they get on 1 of the 2 Droid 2 units they have drops from a full signal to virtually none when sitting in the same spot.

This issue could be confined to early units of course and maybe a software update will fix the problem, but as yet it doesn’t appear the Droid 2 signal issue is as bad as the iPhone 4 antennagate problem. Apparently Engadget has said that 4 out of 4 Droid 2 units they have also show “fluctuating bar counts.”

So have any of our Droid 2 toting readers been seeing an issue with signal on their Droid 2? If so feel free to shout out about it in our comments area below.

I bought my Droid 2 on the 12th, and have reception issues. Its more apparent when dounloading videos. They will either time out, or will interrupt during play. As an experiment my buddy with the original Droid downloaded the same videos in half the time and had no replay interruptions.

Can someone update this to a mid-September status? Is MOT recognizing / fixing the problem? I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a Droid 2 within the next 30 days. Thanks.
