JailbreakMe File Received Was Invalid: Slide Bar Problems

The JailbreakMe 2.0 update seems to be full of mixed emotions, some users say that it works fine whereas some say that they are still getting errors, well we want to know how you are getting on since its release.

Some of our readers have sent in comments explaining their issues, one readers says “I had initially had the error message which said, “Oops… File received was invalid.” Now it keeps saying, “Oops… A server with the specified hostname could not be found.” Not sure what’s going on.

Another readers comment says “Hey! I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS earlier with the site and it worked great! Now I’m trying to jailbreak my dad’s phone (3GS). The bar comes up then immediately an error code saying: “Oops… A server with the specified host name could not be found.” Any ideas??? Please let me know ASAP”

Please do let us know how you are getting on; we want to know more about this from you. We would like to know if you have been successful or unsuccessful with JailbreakMe. Thanks

Worked great with iPhone 4 yesterday and with 2 different 3gs 2 days ago. but today it's been giving me the "Oops… File received was invalid" whole day 🙁
I have tried downgrading the 3gs from ios 4.01 to 4.0 but same error still.

    1. Rawr says:

I have a 3GS that I just downgraded back to 4.0.1, and kept on getting that "file invalid" message as well. Tried holding down the "Retry" button for 5-6 seconds a couple times, and then it finally worked.

    2. guest says:

the trick to it is patience and just keep tapping the retry button. everytime the error comes up, don't just press on the retry; wait a little then press….patience is a virtue.

    1. capster says:

hold onto the retry button for about 3 seconds, or keep pressing it, and eventually it'll bring you to the next window that says jailbreaking …. sit tight

Thanks – i can confirm it does work – kept getting invalid file, but moved to about 1m (3ft) from my wifi router to insure a good signal and it worked!

  2. Alex says:

    "file received in valid" ?

perhaps because some had their iphones jailbroken, downloaded saurik's pdf exploit patch
and then jailbroke it again, while some jailbroke it for the first time?

Also i'd like to say that each time i visit jailbreakme from my iphone 3gs it
goes to http://www.jailbreakme.com/#(a different three digit number every time).

      Hi MEe
i had the same problem than you, solution is to pass in DFU mode and restore the 4.0.1 ( press Shift and the restore button and chose the 4.0.1.IPSW), then you can access jailbreakme.com and the error goes away, jailbreak possible
Then just restore you old settings and do a synchronisation

      ur welcome

  4. Jazz says:

I too have tried to jailbreak my iTouch (3rd gen). It runs on ios4, and whenever I slide the bar on jailbreakme.com it will show me the download screen, with the bar full, for about a half of a second and then jump to the "oops… file received was invalid" message. I've heard restoring helps, but when I restore my ipod itunes tries to upgrade the software to 4.0.2, and that would block the jailbreak. any help?

  5. Guy on T-Mobile says:

I just updated from 3.1.3 (jailbroken) to 4.0.1 (stock), and JailbreakMe is telling me "Oops… File received was invalid." I'm on T-Mobile, and I can't use my phone until this is resolved, which hopefully will be soon.

    1. iphone3g says:

Not working!! Don't underestimate the man that walks on water
from Cupertino. This is more than your servers being inundated
fans. If it sounds like a duck it's a duck!

  8. Airwick says:

I successfully used jailbreak me on my iPod touch 2g:D… But then I needed to restore it for other reasons. I HAD 4.0 but iTunes put 4.0.2 onto my iPod, making “jailbreakme.com” worthless… So, I downgraded back to 4.0… But I get the “oops… File received was invalid” error:( so I guess it only works 1ce on a device…?

  9. shashi says:

  12. Brian says:

  13. Alex says:

  15. mouiller says:
