WP7 Will be highly successful and Hurt Nokia says HTC

HTC has recently made their mark in the smartphone world by jumping aboard the Android bandwagon and producing several high profile smartphones such as the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Droid Incredible, Nexus One and the HTC Desire.

However according to an article over on WMPoweruser by Surur and by way of SmartHouse, HTC Sales and Marketing Manager, Anthoony Petts has been talking about their smartphone strategy and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.

Apparently HTC sees Microsoft’s upcoming operating system as an additional avenue of growth, and Petts has said…”I am 100% convinced that the new Windows 7 mobile will be a success in Australia, HTC is in an excellent position to benefit from the launch of this new OS which has been built from the ground up, as we are backing two strong operating systems with Android and the new Microsoft offering.”

In Australia, HTC has been doing quite well with their high end smartphones such as their HTC Desire and HTC HD2, but have recently began to assault the mid rage market placing the company up against the likes of Nokia.

Petts also said of WP7 and Nokia…”You have to give it to Microsoft, unlike Nokia with their Symbian operating system; Microsoft has bitten the bullet, ditched their old operating system and is now set to launch a new OS that we believe will be highly competitive. Symbian is an old operating system and it’s proving much harder for Nokia to re position the brand in the current market. I am convinced 100% convinced that the new Windows Mobile will be highly successful and this will hurt Nokia.”

Seems like fighting talk to me, and looks like HTC is gearing up to take on Nokia in a battle of the smartphones once Microsoft release Windows Phone 7, and with that running alongside HTC Android devices perhaps they can do damage to Nokia.

What!!..?? Nokia has symbian 3 and it has merged its maemo os with Intel's Moblin and what we have….Meego, which is so promising that it goes beyond the existing ones…Symbian 3 is taking care of Ios and android…
