Android Smartphones on Verizon to have Default Bing Search?

Now here’s a bit of a slap in the face for Android creator Google, one would expect Android devices to have Google Search as their default search engine, but apparently Verizon Wireless doesn’t think so and has other plans in mind for all Android smartphones on their network in future.

According to an article over on Intomobile by Blake Stimac, and by way of The Droid Guys, the Big Red is giving Google a slap by apparently shifting from Google Search over to Bing Search as the default search for all new Android handsets.

Considering Verizon has quite a popular lineup of Android devices such as the Motorola Droid X, Droid 2, one does have to wonder how the move to Microsoft Bing on their Android devices will affect Verizon’s relationship with Google in the future.

The other question is why has Verizon decided to go with Microsoft Bing anyway? Although the latest Android to hit the Big Red, the Samsung Fascinate does apparently have Bing as the default search engine. Anyone out there actually use Bing as their preferred search engine?
