iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Exploit Discovered Already

There is a cat and mouse game that has gone on for years between Apple and the jailbreakers, hackers come up with a jailbreak solution, Apple update to close it and so on. However over the years the hackers have become quite adept at finding exploits rather quickly.

Apple released iOS 4.1 yesterday and apparently there is already a jailbreak exploit available. According to an article over on Mashable by Stan Schroeder, a hacker known as pod2g tweeted that he has found an exploit which will enable the jailbreak of iOS 4.1.

Apparently this time the new jailbreak is based n a boot ROM exploit which apparently means it hits a low level area of the operating system, and thus if Apple wants to patch it they will need to update the hardware and not the software.

The other big deal with this exploit is that regardless of iOS version, most iOS devices may be vulnerable to the exploit, so basically the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and such all vulnerable. Apparently others in the hacking community have confirmed the new exploit.
