Android to Be Number Two Mobile Operating System This Year

Apple and their iPhone operating system, now know as iOS have been at the top of the mobile operating system list for quite some time, but Google’s Android platform continues to grow and is apparently set to become the number two OS this year.

According to an article over on Fonehome by Andrew, analyst company Gartner predicts that Android will become the second largest mobile OS this year, and not behind Apple’s iOS but behind Symbian.

Gartner says that Android will win the No 2 smartphone OS position ahead of BlackBerry and iOS with only Symbian standing in Android’s way of the number one slot, a place Gartner predicts will be taken by Android by 2014.

Originally last year Gartner predicted the Android platform would gain the number two position by 2012, but that has now changed as they expect Android to now grab the number two slot this year.

  1. Graham says:

How can you start with the paragraph "Apple and their iPhone operating system, now know as iOS have been at the top of the mobile operating system list for quite some time", and then go on to point out that Symbian is in the lead in the next paragraph? And given that Blackberry are also ahead of Apple, shouldn't the article have begun "iOs has been at third place for quite some time"?
