Droid X Android 2.2 Released, So Where Is It?

If you are an owner of a Motorola Droid X and still patiently waiting for Verizon to push out the Android 2.2 Froyo update, my guess you would be kind of annoyed at the continued delay by the Big Red to release the update.

An interesting thing though is according to an article over on Engadget by Darren Murph, is that there is rather a curious web page appeared over at the Droid Does site, a portal that the Big Red has been pushing for quite a while.

The thing is the new page actually shows that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Droid X has been released, yet the links apparently shoot you off to a previously referenced splash page and not the download page.

Apparently the image of the page was text to a tipster from Verizon Wireless. So if this page says the Droid X Android 2.2 Froyo update has been released where the hell is it? Are you still waiting or have you actually received the update?

I have the Droid X and think it is the best phone Verizon has ever had in its line up thus far. But….first of all, Verizon releases its "flagship" phone without Froyo 2.2 and then positions it to receive the update last of all the popular handsets. To top it all off, Verizon, Motorola and Google have been very uncommunicative with their customer base across the board with the update schedule, not to mention offering any type of explanation for delays. Verizon has dropped the ball big time with the X and the update. I can only hope they learn something about communication from this fiasco.

I received an email from VZW stating the following, and I quote "Your DROID by Motorola smartphone is even better with Android 2.2. Recently released by Verizon Wireless, the new Android 2.2 software update – also known as "Froyo" – includes loads of new features and tons of shortcuts. Your phone has automatically received this update – no additional steps are required!"

That was Tuesday, Sept 14th and it's now Thursday the 16th and I still haven't received anything! I've even manually run the system update from "Settings" to no avail. It says my software is up to date.

What the heck gives VZW?? Are we getting it or aren't we? Will you let us know one way ot the other?
