Nokia Invades HTC London Event with Red Balloons

Ah the childishness of big business. As you are probably aware currently Nokia World 2010 is running over here in the UK in London, and you also might be aware that HTC will be opening their own event today in London as well.

Well according to an article over on Engadget by Chris Ziegler, it appears that Nokia has taken exception to upstart HTC holding their event in the same capital city as Nokia World 2010, and has done something about it.

Apparently in a somewhat childish attempt to draw attention back to Nokia World by sending numerous youngsters over to where the HTC event is being held and each youngster is carrying big red balloons which have printed on them…”I know where I’m going with Nokia’s Ovi Maps.”

As if London isn’t big enough to support numerous smartphone events indeed. Perhaps Nokia is scared that HTC will steal the limelight from Nokia World, which no doubt it will considering HTC is supposedly unveiling some Android devices later today.

HTC parked their branded buses outside Nokia World to hijack leaving attendees for their own event. Immature of both companies, but certainly HTC kicked it off and indeed HTC did exactly the same last year[1] so hardly surprising that Nokia came prepared this year – they'd have been criticised if they'd done nothing.

Would be nice to see some impartial reporting of what actually took place – IMHO HTC deserve much of the blame for repeating their stunt from last year.
