Google Gmail App Gains Android Froyo Update

Yes for all you Android 2.2 Froyo toting people out there that use Gmail, it appears that Google has now pushed out a Froyo update for Google Gmail App for Android especially for those smartphones with the Android 2.2 operating system.

According to an article over on Mashable by Jolie O’Dell, people with Android smartphones running the Froyo OS can now download the latest version of Gmail for Android from the Android Market, and the updated version delivers to the user more access to content.

As the Gmail for Android app is a freestanding app on the Android Market any application updates will not depend of operating system over the air updates, and also brings support for Gmail’s Priority Inbox to Android 2.2 Froyo enabled smartphones.

Furthermore the update brings a few user interface improvements like a bar showing the most important actions at the top of the screen and stays there no matter how far down you scroll with a message, and if you use Priority Inbox in your desktop version, the “important” label on your Android Froyo smartphone will show important flagged messages and the user can also place a shortcut to “important” onto their device’s home screen.
