BlackBerry Tablet aka RIM Playbook Announced: Specifications and Video

RIM announced the new BlackBerry Tablet aka Playbook today at the Research In Motion’s developer event and we have the specifications and a video preview for you.

The new tablet called the RIM Playbook features Cortex A9 1GHz dual-core CPU, webOS-like app switching, 7-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 1080p HDMI video, full document editing, the ability to pair with BlackBerry mobile phones, HDMI and USB ports and front and rear HD camera configuration.

The mobile device is only 9.7mm thick with an interface based on a platform designed by QNX, The RIM BlackBerry Playbook Tablet will be released at the beginning of 2011 but no price has been stamped on it as of yet.

– Weighs less than a pound (approximately 0.9 lb or 400g)
– RIM intends to also offer 3G and 4G models in the future.
