BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform Announced at Devcon 2010

During Devcon 2010, BlackBerry maker Research In Motion announced the new BlackBerry messenger Social Platform which enables BlackBerry developers to take full advantage of BlackBerry Messenger by enabling its functionality in their applications.

According to an article over on BlackBerry Rocks, by Mauricio, with the new BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform, comes new features such as enabling users to pick from their BlackBerry Messenger contacts from in another app so they can chat and start a game.

The BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform also allows the user to insert app status updates into their BlackBerry Messenger profile enabling it to be launched or downloaded from BlackBerry messenger via friends of the user. User’s can also create BlackBerry messenger friend groups specific to an app.

Furthermore user’s will be able to transfer audio, video, pictures and other content straight from the app to their BlackBerry Messenger groups or contacts and also invite new friends. It is expected that the BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform will become available sometime in spring 2011.
