HTC Desire HD and Desire Z Feature Comparison

Since HTC unveiled the latest smartphones in their Desire range, the HTC Desire HD has kind of grabbed all the attention from its sliding QWERTY sister handset the HTC Desire Z, but does the Desire HD deserve all the attention over the Z?

Well the guys over at Electric Pig have done a little feature comparison between the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z handsets to see if the HD version really does come out on top.

Screen wise the Desire HD has to take it over the Z because of its 4.3 inch touch screen where the Z only has the more standard 3.7 inch. Camera wise the HTC Desire HD wins again with its 8 megapixel, dual-LED flash and 720p video as the Desire Z spots a 5 megapixel auto-focus and flash with 720p video.

When it comes down to typing the Desire Z obviously has the addition of a physical QWERTY, while the Desire HD has a virtual keyboard, but when it comes right down to the nitty-gritty it’s all a matter of personal preference. Battery wise the Desire HD has a 1230 mAh while the Desire Z sports a 1300 mAh, which gives the Desire Z approximately an extra 30 minutes of talk time, so a slight win for the Z.

The Desire HD processor is 1GHz while the Z has 200 MHz less, and the Desire HD weighs in lighter as well at 164 grams while the Z weighs 180 grams due to that sliding keyboard, and as for RAM the HD packs 768MB and the Z touts 512MB, so overall it appears that the HTC Desire HD does deserve the extra attention over the HTC Desire Z.
