Sprint has rolled out updates as promised for the Samsung Galaxy S range of smartphones and now apparently the second 4G enabled handset on Sprint’s WiMAX network, the Samsung Epic 4G is gaining an update of its own which delivers 4 fixes to the device.

According to an article over on Phandroid by Kevin Krause and by way of the guys over on Engadget, the new Sprint update for the Samsung Epic 4G delivers an increase in 3G upload speeds which at least should please those who aren’t currently covered by a 4G area.

As for other improvements to the Samsung Epic 4G, it is said the update brings improvement to WiFi standby battery drain, large email upload speeds improved, and Amazon MP3 is now able to download on the 4G network.

The update to the Samsung Epic 4G will be pushed to the device automatically and downloading to the device should take about 7 to 8 minutes and brings the firmware version to S:D700.0.5S.DI18.

Ya another update from corrupt aholes like sprint and samsung.First they advertise the phone with 512mb ram and 1gb rom and advertise the phone ad having the tv out function from the 3.5mm head phone jack. The phone only comes with 512mb rom and only 340mb of ram they used a chunk of ram to fix the lag problem. And they removed the video out function via a software update(a function we paid for).Wether they did it because of sprint tv or they were worried about excessive bandwidth use, they still didn’t have a right too.And this update takes your ability to download or run the tv.com app from the market place,an app that gives you full free episodes to watch.Could it be because they want to force sprint tv down your throat so you have to buy their channels.Or could it be so you have to buy episodes from samsungs new app (media hub) or could it be both. You be the judge. From my point of view, both companys have corrupt aholes in charge and I wish people would get together and file a class action, lawsuit against them.

Another example of sprints corruption is when them and htc would not let evo owners return or exchange their phone due to screen seperation.Claiming that its only cosmetic and not a problem.Ya well it becomes a problem in a few months when it gets so bag that moisture and dirt get in your phone and ruin it.Its not the customers fault that sprint and htc hurried the evo out without having all the bugs worked out.So they could have the first 4g phone on the market. So I recommend not going to sprint unless you absolutely have to.Im stuck with them dont’ maker the same mistake I did.Thought I was lucky that radio shack let me trade my evo in for an epic but,it turned out to be a whole new bunch of bullshi*.

I've never seen any literature from Sprint stating that there is viceo out from the 3.5mm jack on the Epic. Always stated DLNA.

I don't think that "POd Epic Owner" knows what he's talking about.

At any rate, I'm excited about the update and have noticed DRAMATICALLY improved battery life. We're going on hour 11, and the battery life is still 68%,
