Redsn0w Jailbreak iOS 4.1 iPhone 3G, Windows How Too

As you may be aware redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 1 was for the Mac, and now the Dev Team have released Redsn0w for windows, so what you probably need is a quick tutorial on how to jailbreak your iOS 4.1 iPhone 3G using the windows version of redsn0w.

The guys over at iPhone Download Blog have comes up with a tutorial for jailbreaking the iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 that goes as follows…

First make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, then download iOS 4.1 onto your 3G and download redsn0w 0.9.6 for windows to your computer, and then update the iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1 through iTunes.

Okay, so here we go, launch redsn0w and hit “Browse” and look for firmware 4.1 on your desktop, then click next and redsn0w will ‘prepare jailbreak data.’ Next a widow will appear with eight options, be sure to select ‘Install Cydia,” and can select other options depending on what you need.

Then follow the on-screen instructions to turn off your 3G and then click ‘Next’. The iPhone then needs to go into DFU mode to follow the on-screen instructions to do so: hold down home and power together for 10 seconds until the device reboots.

Once rebooted what you should have is redsn0w working its jailbreak magic, just sit tight and wait for the iPhone 3G to reboot again, and bingo jailbreak is done and the Cydia icon should pop up on your springboard.
