Samsung Captivate Confirmed Launch for Rogers

For all Canadian Android fans who have been waiting to grab a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone your wait will apparently be soon over as the Samsung Captivate is heading for Rogers Wireless sooner than you might think.

According to an article over on Phandroid and by way of Redboard, the delayed launch of the Rogers Samsung Captive has now been confirmed and should become available sometime next week.

The Samsung Captivate for Rogers was originally delayed due to manufacturing problems with word being it wasn’t sure just when the device would see launch, but now it appears those manufacturing problem have been solved and Rogers customers can look forward to gaining the Android handset.

The Rogers Samsung captivate will of course come sporting Android 2.1 OS but it is expected that the Rogers Samsung Captivate will see the Android 2.2 Froyo update early next year, so now all you Canadians can grab some Captivate sweetness…enjoy.

I know I read that Rogers said their version of the Galaxy S would not have the GPS problems that have plagued all other Galaxy S variants. I wonder if the manufacturing issue they speak of here has to do with retool or a slight redesign to make sure the GPS actually works….
