As you are probably aware by now the fated joint venture between Garmin and Asus that brought us the nuviphone has now come to a parting of the ways; however apparently Asus now has the exclusive rights to Garmin navigation on Android smartphones.
Now according to an article over on Gizmodo by Kat Hannaford, Digitimes has reported that although Garmin will no longer cooperate on future Android smartphones from Asus, Asus intends to make available Garmin Navigation apps for both the iPhone iOS and the BlackBerry platform.
Apparently Asustek has said that they will launch the software on both the App Store and BlackBerry App World as free downloads although there is no word on exactly when iOS or BlackBerry users will see the new apps hit the stores.
However if it takes as long as both Garmin and Asus took to deliver the first Garmin-asus smartphone we could be looking at one exceedingly long wait. So anyone actually interested in picking up Garmin navigation when it becomes available to the iPhone and BlackBerry?
