iPhone Best Selling But Android Most Popular OS in US

Ah the never ending battle between Android and the iPhone continues with the publication of a Q3 2010 smartphone market research report from tech analyst provider Canalys which says although the iconic iPhone is the best selling smartphone in the US market, it is Android which dominates in the operating system stakes.

According to an article over on Softpedia by Cosim Vasile, Canalys says the Apple iPhone is the best selling handset in the United States with a 26.2 percent share of the market and is apparently the 1st time the iPhone has bested RIM’s BlackBerry which grabbed 24.2 percent.

However when it comes to operating system Apple’s iOS doesn’t fair too well against the might of Android as according to the report Android is up some 1309 percent globally from the year previous and the Google operating system now leads with 43.6 percent of the United States smartphone market for Q3 2010.

Which really isn’t that surprising when you consider the iPhone is just one device while there are numerous devices sporting the Android platform so you can’t be too down on Apple in that area.
