RIM Responds to Dell BlackBerry Ditch

The other day it came to light that Dell intends to push the Windows Phone 7 platform by offering a free Dell Venue Pro to their 25,000 employees to swap their BlackBerry devices along with offering a new service to clients who switch to WP7 as well, you can read that article (here).

Well now apparently according to an article over on the Boy Genius Report by Zach Epstein, and by way of the WSJ, BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has now issues a response to the move by Dell.

Apparently Mark Guibert, RIM’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing has said via email, “We find it highly unlikely that they will actually save any money with this move and far more likely they were looking for a little free publicity.”

Research In Motion’s reply follows on the back of Dell’s CFO Brian Gladden saying that Dell could save 25 percent on communications costs by dropping BlackBerry servers and smartphones.
