Apple iPad Comcast Xfinity Remote Streaming: Video

There’s a new Xfinity TV DVR remote application for your iOS device out now as long as you have a Comcast service; however it doesn’t feature the direct-to-device streaming video which is due to become available in “a couple of weeks” or “by the end of the year.”

However, the guys over at Engadget managed to try out the Xfinity TV DVR remote app and recorded the occasion on video and of course we have that video footage for your viewing pleasure below.

They do say that the featureset is somewhat limited at the moment meaning that you select programs from a guide, and you can watch those programs, beam them to your TV and tell your DVR to record said programs, and according to Comcast, Apple helped ensure the user experience is polished.

So all you need to do now is head on down, mash that play button and check out this four minute demo of Comcast Xfinity remote in action on an Apple iPad…enjoy.

I like the layout of the program guide Apple did a good job working with Comcast to make it look very polished. However, not having the ability to stream live TV is kind of a disappointment for me personally. I know DISH Network has this ability already with the Sling Adapter. Getting to stream stuff I recorded on my DVR as well as live TV is pretty neat and being that I work for DISH I have had a chance to actually use the Sling. DISH definitely has the upper hand on this for the moment, but I am interested to see what’s coming out in the near future.
