AirPlay Coming to 3rd Party Apps and Safari Next Year

When iOS 4.2 was release one of the major features was AirPlay, which is of course for streaming photos, audio and video from your iOS device to your television; however AirPlay was limited on arrival meaning Safari and 3rd party apps would only stream audio.

However, according to an article over on 9to5 Mac and by way of MacRumors, although hackers have come up with how Apple codes those video streaming restrictions, mainstream users would no doubt prefer a full fledged AirPlay on 3rd party apps via Apple.

So to this end and to get a little clarification on the matter, MacRumors emailed iPhone guru Steve Jobs asking… “Hi, I recently updated both my iPhone 4 and iPad to 4.2. I think my favourite feature is airplay. This is seriously amazing and makes sharing content seamless. I just purchased Apple TV and was wondering are you ever going to make airplay video work for videos in safari and 3rd party apps? I hope to get a response. :)”

To which Mr. Jobs gave his usual short and concise response…” Yep, hope to add these features to Airplay in 2011.”

Thus it would appear that at some point next year a full fledged AirPay will come to Safari and 3rd party apps, although just when next year is another matter.
