iPhone Gains Official Google Latitude App

Well folks finally it appears that Apple and Google have buried the mobile hatchet somewhere other than in each other with Apple finally allowing the official Google Latitude app for iPhone to grace the Apple iTunes App Store after a false start last week.

According to an article over on Engadget by Thomas Ricker, the Google Latitude app for iPhone is version 2.0.0.346 and will of course do what Google Latitude does and that is letting others know where you are and seeing each other on a map. You can share your location with whoever you want even when you don’t have your smartphone with you.

Features include being able to share your location in the background even when the app is closed or the handset is locked, the ability to hide your location and switch off background updating at any time or share on a city wide level. Google Latitude has up until now only been available to the iconic iPhone via a web app.

Google Latitude for the iPhone is available in numerous languages including English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Turkish, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, Greek and many more and is a free application which can of course be downloaded to your iPhone from iTunes.
