Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Nexus One Update Causes Problem

So apparently the latest smartphone operating system from the Google guys, Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread is being pushed out over the air to Google Nexus One owners, but the word is the manual update has cause a problem for some Nexus One owners out there.

According to an article over on Engadget, the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update broke Google Voice on their Nexus One smartphone and they had to fix the problem by downloading an old GV.apk.

Apparently there are quite a few people who manually updated and are suffering the same Google Voice issue after the Android Gingerbread update. However according to the Engadget article if you download an old GV.apk then update to the latest version in the Android Market by way of Google support’s instructions it gets fixed.

So if you are an owner of the Nexus One and have been suffering from the loss of Google Voice after updating feel free to let us know if the solution works for you by dropping us a comment.

Google voice works fine on my N1 after update. All I did was trash the old shortcut and make new one. All is fine in N1 world. I Love it…. Go GOOGLE!!!!!

After the OTA update following apps are not working. I have uninstalled them and installed them, but still the same problem
IP Webcam-App starts but no capturing or streaming the video
NFS Shift, crashes after the first screen.

I have checked GV and its working fine.

Just loaded 2.3 on my N1. Now i can't make outgoing calls, (Phone app won't even load) – & any pgms that work off of the phone, like "Fast Call" or "takePhone" don't work either. & I can't load any keyboards. Other than that, I'm having a great day.

This application maybe fine with those who are willing to wear reading glasses full time or those with better than perfect vision but it is terrible for those of us over 40. The new operating system changed the icons at the top of the screen so that they are about 50% smaller than in Froyo 2.2. In addition, instead of being colored icons on a gray background, they are now dark green on a black background. I for one can't read them. Oh, and the battery meter no longer reports the percentage of charge remaining. And they dare to call this an improvement … not in my eyes.

Unlike many windows programs where a roll-back is possible, we seem to be stuck with this new SUCKY "up-grade."

I want my Android Froyo2.2 back … BIG TIME

i hate it. have Nexus One. Updated to gingerbread and find the screen keeps going black every time I try to dial a number. The only way to get the phone to work is to restart it by taking the battery out. I so hate it. Does anybody know how I can go back to the older version. Please help.
