iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak: The Untethering Goodness

For all those out there that have eagerly been awaiting a jailbreak for the iOS 4.3.1, I can now announce that an untethered jailbreak has just been released by the Dev Team.

Unfortunately, at present the jailbreak will not work with the iPad 2. However, the jailbreak will work with every other iOS 4.3.1 device, such as iPad 1, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPhone 3GS and Apple’s second generation TV.

Now the guys at iphonedownloadblog.com advise us that 2 versions of the iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak have been released by the Dev Team and that to jailbreak your iPhone whilst preserving the baseband (Mac only) you can use the PwnageTool, or the other alternative, is to use RedSn0w (PC and Mac versions are available).

Please note that it is recommended that if you rely on the UltraSn0w unlock, that you do not upgrade and jailbreak until the Dev Team have updated this tool.

For more information on jailbreak’s for iOS devices why not check out our previous articles on Sn0wbreeze Beta jailbreak tool or the tethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak.

redsn0w gets as far as "uploading ramdisk" then crashes. I've downloaded the correct firmware for my ipod touch 4g and everything else goes well up to this point. A green arrow pointing to a hard drive appears on the ipods screen and says "downloading jailbreak data" and thats it. For those who are thinking of updating to 4.3.1 to do this. DON'T BOTHER JUST YET!

Ran into the same problem earlier whilst jailbreaking iphone 4. What i did was run the program in compatibility mode. Right click on the jailbreak and go properties then go to compatibility tab and set it to windows xp service pack 2 did that and it worked a treat. Hope this helps.
