Droid Bionic Being Purged from Motorola Website

There seems to be some confusion over whether the Motorola Droid Bionic has been cancelled in favour of the Motorola Targa as reported previously (here), or whether the Motorola Droid Bionic has simply been delayed as we reported (here.)

So for most who are waiting for the Droid Bionic to hit Verizon it would appear that things are becoming less clear as according to an article over on Phandroid by way of Droid-life, it appears that the Droid Bionic is slowly being purged from the Motorola website.

The word is that a link of the handset’s main page, the front page carousel sends one to the product page showing all devices and when clicking through “Android devices” you are show a list of Motorola Android products where the Droid Bionic isn’t listed.

However, apparently according to Droid-life the Droid Bionic was scheduled for release as of the 12th of May but will now appear as an enhanced version sometime this summer, presumably the Motorola Targa.

Having said that it could always simply be a mistake by Motorola that the Droid Bionic is disappearing from their website as the Droid Bionic still shows on the MotoDev website.

So what do our readers make of this, do you think Motorola is purging the Droid Bionic from existence, do you still want the Bionic rather than the Targa?

I'm glad they are making the change now, hopefully that will decrease the chance that they will release something bigger and better a month after I race out and buy the Bionga….that being said, hurry up and get us something dammit!

Take it for what it's worth but a Verizon tech told me the Bionic's release date will be June after the release of a new phone by them in both April and May….

Hopefully Motorola is just upgrading some of the specs on the Etna handset that was going to be used for the Droid Bionic. I would have gotten the Droid X already if it wasn't for that god-awful hump on the back of the phone for the camera. It makes storing and holding the phone kind of awkward. The Targa is the exact same kind of device, so if Motorola pushes that for the Bionic, I'll probably be waiting for the Droid 3 or iPhone 5.

I was wanting the Bionic until I saw 0.3MP front facing camera (weak). then the targa caught my eye, then the Bionic retooled (woozy in the head). But now I see rumors of a Galaxy S3 that has a fall release and if it produces what it rumored to, it will be my next device, sorry Moto.

I noticed the changes to the Motorola Mobility website. If you key word search Motorola Bionic news releases you will find a page that discusses the delay in the release. The phone they will release will not have the specs or the same exterior design as the concept 'BIONIC' shown at CES. So maybe they are trying to reduce confusion about the Bionic. However, I hope they still use the name Bionic for the phone they release. It's much more appealing than the other names they are throwing around.

I just spoke to a rep at the Champaign Illinois Verizon Wireless store who said the Bionic had been pushed back to the Fall. Per the rep,Verizon employees need a specific amount of time to train on the devise before they can sell it, they have not received any training…
