Samsung Galaxy Tab & Galaxy S Android Gingerbread Update

Great news for Samsung Galaxy device owners, such as the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, etc., you will be pleased to know that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for your devices will start rolling out from the middle of this month.

We previously did an article on the initial April release of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for Samsung Galaxy devices being suspended by Google — see here. However, this morning Samsung announced that they intend to update all their Galaxy S devices.

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, which starts mid-May here in the United Kingdom and Nordic countries, and then according to the regional plan will roll out to other European markets and then to North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa and then the rest of the world.

Samsung Galaxy devices included in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade are the Galaxy S, the Galaxy Tab (which already received a taste of Gingerbread in Italy) and lower priced devices, Gio, mini, Ace and Fit. Read the full PR after the break.

Information the earlier announcement by Samsung comes to us via Engadget – see full Press Release. We would like to hear from all Samsung Galaxy device owners, please tell us what you think of this announcement.

  1. Awesome was when the update was stopped before I could get it on my handset, hopefully it is with us soon.

That said I am already looking forward to an Ice cream flavored android, lets hope Samsung will not take so long with the next upgrade, or at least for Cyanogen mod to start supporting galaxy S
