Sprint Network Outage Problems: Were You Affected

The Sprint network outage has caused a few problems and we would like to know if the service was down for you, the issue left customers with voice call and SMS service downtime, so were you affected?

According to Engadget thanks to a few tipsters Sprint had some technical issues with its network in some states, since the problem occurred Engadget has updated its site with a statement via Sprint.

Sprint has acknowledged that there was a disruption to Sprint SMS traffic but was not a complete disruption, they only lost partial capacity for about an hour. Sprint was quick of the mark to suit the problem out and they have done a great job in doing so.

We would like to ask all Sprint customers if they experienced problems with the Sprint network being down, could you send text messages and make or receive phone calls?

If you have anything to say on the above issue please do let us know in the comments area below, and if you are still experiencing problems please inform us. Your input is very important to us.

Yes..I am in Los Angeles. I have 2 sprint phones with a family plan. One for california and one for Tennessee. The TN phone is not able to send text messages, but the CA phone is in full operation. hmmm. Good thing I have 2 phones.

I have been waiting on a phone call regarding a job interview that I had last week. I am going to know today about it. But I cannot answer my phone because my phone seems to be in constant roaming. I contacted Sprint via Chat, but they never said anything about an outage. I was directed to tech support. I cannot call them because my cell phone is on the fritz and so are our work phones (ironically). I am very upset with Sprint! They are eager to solve my problems, but don't seem to prevent them in the first place!!!!!

I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (Norfolk). I purchased the HTC EVO in March; less than a week I started to experience problems. Missed calls; SMS errors; delayed or missed texts all kinds of problems. I returned to the Sprint store from where I purchased it. I was informed that Sprint had a tower down. One tower and cause this many problems. Long story short to this day (May 18) I am still having problems. Actually it's gotten worse. I went back to the store today and was informed that Sprint is upgrading to 4G and this is causing all of the problems. I was informed to go to the service center and have my phone diagnosed. Yet right, the guy sat there doing stuff (turning off guards) and told me the same thing. Sprint is upgrading their service for 4G and that's causing the problems. I really doubt that a service upgrade will cause my phone to freeze and do the things it's doing. Really BAD customer service.

    1. I’m in Suffolk VA & after upgrading to my first smartphone a BB Style, it’s been the worst phone ever & service to boot. Now I know it’s not just me with problems & I will wait for them to fix their issues before I go raise hell. Having been a customer since early ’90s, this is the worst I have ever had with problems with Sprint. HATE my phone so beware the Blackberry Style (flip) – it’s awful & I am stuck with it for 2 yrs. ::::sigh::::

I experienced call blockage and text message failure off and on since March all acrosss North Caroina. I do know that in TN, VA, and NC, Sprint has issues with capacity on their towers. I've been assured that they are adding more capacity in those markets by the end of May. So, I'm hoping the issues will be fixed in the next couple of weeks. Aside from this year, I've always been happy with my Sprint service. I just want them to hurry and get these issues fixed. A business rep told me about their plans to merge the Sprint and Nextel networks into one which should improve in-buidling coverage and coverage in rural areas. I hope it's true and happens soon!

I'm not sure if it's related or not, but my phone has been unable to get online (3g) for the last two days, despite resetting the phone and profile / PRL updates. It still can't get online. I have been able to make calls with no problem though. Washington state.

May or may not be related. My phone as of the last couple days has not been able to send or receive texts or calls in the office here in Oregon. The bars indicate my reception is fine, but I haven't been able to do anything since late Tuesday. Works fine when I get home. Concerning part is I have job applications in several places and will likely be in the office if anyone ever calls me back. Fixes?

  7. Michigan:Brought my phone in on the 24th complaining about not able to send about 1 out of every 5 text messages and receiving a message saying “Error Code 39”. They said it was a known issue and should be fixed by June…..We’ll see!

I have been getting these notifications while trying to make phone calls :
” network busy” followed by ” call lost” then “dismiss”  When trying to use browser or access any apps that require internet, I get the never ending wheel indicating its searching but not finding anything. When I text i get a red X indicating it did not go through. UGH!!!!! Sprint wants me to take my phone in for service and says there are no problems with their network. I beg to differ.

I do not have service since 5/4/12, so I call sprint they say I will have service until 6/23/12 because network  outage. They are installing new antennas? Wow what can I do if I use my phone every day to work. Is this true or they want to take me out of there company because I have an affordable plan?
