HTC Sensation Problems with Touchscreen, Users Experience

We are calling out to all users of the HTC Sensation smartphone, are you having problems with the touchscreen?

There are many reports coming in that the HTC Sensations is experiences issues with the touchscreen, the main problems is to do with the panel and often misses first presses, Android Police reports that it also struggles with fast brushing movements.

Android Police have put together YouTube video that you can watch below this video, one of the problems occurring is when typing, apparently the auto-correction of words are not working properly without the first letter. This means that the icons need tapping on a few times on the homescreen to launch them.

Another issue is the scrolling, apparently the app drawer or in Twitter applications such as TweetDeck is very choppy, the touchscreen only registers a brushing touch as a press. Android Police go on to say that this “leads to unwanted opening of applications when scrolling through your app drawer”.

The Touchscreen problem seems to make it hard opening the unlock as well, if you swipe like you normally would it does not work the way it should. You have to unlock the HTC Sensation in a very slow swiping gesture.

Please watch the video and see the HTC Sensation problems with the touchscreen, if you are having any of the above issues please do use our commenting system and let us know. Thanks

Whilst on the subject of HTC Sensation problems, Phones Review colleague reported that this same smartphone is having the “Death Grip” issue. Please read more about that here.

another problem with this htc sensation is that when u download the free ware “talking cat” or “talking santa” after activated, it will mute the phone completely including the ring tone. That two free ware work out fine on others htc model.

I have an HTC Sensation, after 4 days the phone got so hot, it crashed and then the screen would only produce a small glow in the bottom left corner, I contacted HTC and they told me to send it to Abu Dhabi in UAE – they replaced the motherboard, but since then the phone continually overheats and crashes. HTC are being extremely UNHELPFUL insisting that again at my expense I send it back to UAE Service centre – I have sent it back to Taiwan with a demand for a replacement – I await the outcome

I also have similar problems. It doesn’t react to anything. The phone has now been sent in to repairs.. I regret I didn’t buy the Samsung Galaxy S II

I have had the same thing been happening to my brand new HTC Sensation. Also, sometimes when I go to unlock the screen it only shows half the screen and I can’t unlock it.
Very disappointing and not a happy camper with HTC.

Only getting half the screen when I turn the phone on. Have had phone 3 weeks and had couple of issues – e.g. phone keypad wouldn’t respond. So far solution to problems seems to be power down, remove battery, wait 10-15 min., then put back in and restart.

I’ve had this gphone for few days and I find it difficult to unlock it for the first time which is very annoying when answering calls. Does anybody know if there is any solution to this issue or can I return this phone altogether 🙂

I’ve had the HTC sensation since 24 July. I’m already on my 2nd one (after the original decided to pack in and not turn on) and am experiencing problems with my replacement. The time, the screen is locking and then I’m finding it difficult to get the screen back-on. When I do, I am unable to unlock the screen.
I appreciate that first models of any new phone will have problems but these should be ironed out before release. I’ll be going to Carphone Warehouse today and asking to swap my phone for, what I believe is, the more relaible blackberry.
This has been my first experience of the HTC. It is a great phone in terms of ease-of-use but I’m disappointed with these problems (which obviously aren’t one-offs). The battery life is also very disappointing.

  14. I had the same problem on HTC Legend!
Now I have the Sensation, but it works ok!
It’s quite new though, I only have it for 3 days!
    Hope it will be ok.
My Legend lasted for one year and a half!

Very slow to unlock the phone. When I swipe I can wait up to 5-6 seconds before I see the home screen. When I press to end call it does not respond even after multiple presses.

  17. I had my sensation for 3 weeks when this problem arose!… absolute nightmare the issues were as follows.
    *Unresponsive unlock ring
    *Unresponsive/buggy GUI via touchscreen
*Nightmare trying to send messages (kept getting closed or saved as draft)
*Unresponsive/buggy HOME, BACK, SEARCH & APP TRAY LAUNCH buttons
*Random opening and/or closing of apps from home screens

HTC were pathetic, i sent my phone directly to them and they lost it… It arrived at the repair centre (U.K) and was not logged into the system apparently. After 2 weeks i contacted them and was told it had been “mis-placed” not lost so therefore until they tried to find it i wasntt entitled to a replacement. I was assured my case had been “Escilated” and passed onto the “Escilation Team” and if they couldnt find my handset only then would a replacement be issued…After a month and still no phone i contacte HTC again. This time i was told that there was no record of the case being passed onto the “Escilation Team” at this point i started making a polite noise and requested to speak to a manager. I was put on hold for a few minutes and when the custome advisor came back i was told the information had been passed on to the “Team Manager” and he would review my case and be in touch. A couple of days later i received a call from him. He apologised for my situation and assured me that every effort was now being made to find my phone, he asked me to allow 7 working days for this, i agreed. After the time was up i i rang back to speak to him, i was told he was busy and would call back. 2 days later i recieved a call saying my phone was indeed lost and a replacement would be issued, i was told he would email ne a tracking number once the phone had been despatched. This didnt happen! I rang back after about a week or so and was told they didnt have any units in stock to give me (The repair centre recieves parts and builds them on site!)

3 months down the line and many phone calls and online chats with advisors and still nop phone!!.. I have been told (16/09/2011) that they now have handset and one will be with me by Thu (22/09/2011).. To be honset im not holding my breath! They have told me so many lies and generic stories containg buzz words that i will NEVER buy an HTC again (i was a fanboy!)

In conclusion the couldnt run a bath! This is happening in America too and the UK same stories etc!

My theory is the Sensation has a major hardware issue and they are papping them out knowing this! They are then sent back for repair and i believe eventually fitted with whatever part they need, the demand is obviously outweighing the supply at the moment and they simply cannot cope with the volume of repair.

I think how fast you get your handset back depends on how much you moan at them!

    NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Am waiting longer and longer when unlocking the phone for the home page to appear, (read longer than 5 secs) and now can’t seem to ‘end call’ on the first press either, it takes several.

hi i have the same phone and i have used all upgrades as recomended and now when i touch the home button it takes the picture that is on the screen can you help  pleaseit seams to be intermitting fault not all the time

  20. Benrobison843 says:

same problem but worse in responding, i am now on my 4th phone through orange insurance in a week and  i done the factory resets and updats and sync updates non have worked

    1. Knackeredmum says:

Insist on a different phone. We have had 3 diff ones within about 6 weeks and Orange wanted us to have a 4th. We said ‘no’. It took almost an hour but we now have a Samsung Galaxy SII arriving in the morning

  21. Shelly says:

Our daughter got the Sensation as a replacement when she lost her Desire HD and we are on our third one. On all 3 we have had probs with the top 2/3 of screen freezing. the phone unlocking itself, the phone dialling the number of the last person contacted, the music player starting by itselfand now it froze completely whilst my daughter was listening to music on Youtube. I have lost count of the number of resets we have done and Orange are insisting that there are no faults with these phones (apparently they sell THOUSANDS of them with no problems). They said it was a virus on our computer/ a dodgy app download or pilot error. Anything but admit there is a prob with the phone. We eventually managed to arrange a replacement phone but I feel really angry that no one will come out and admit these phones have problems.

I got my HTC Sensation in February 2012 and on many occassions when trying to answer an incoming call I am unable to pull the ring to unlock the phone so I can answer the call. When this happen I would press the lock button twice and then it would recognize and unlock by then the call would be lost..

I had my HTC for a couple of months: After a few weeks the display did not react so it was sent to the service center in Bangkok where a new mother board was installed. After 3 weeks it came back (OK because of Songkran) but same symptoms appear when the display does not react on any touch. Costly return calls must be made for lost international calls… I would be grateful about any idea or suggestion how to solve the problem
