HTC Desire Gaining Gingerbread Losing Apps

You may have heard there was some confusion over whether the HTC desire would actually get updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, first HTC said yes, and then suddenly said no, we reported on that matter earlier, which can be read (here) However, HTC has now posted some good news on the matter to their Facebook page.

According to the guys over at Slash Gear, HTC has posted to their Facebook page an apology over the confusion, but the HTC Desire will receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update although at a small cost.

Here’s what HTC posted…” To resolve Desire’s memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release.

Look for status updates starting next week. We apologize for any confusion.”

HTC hasn’t made any mention as to what apps will be ditched in order for the HTC Desire to gain the Gingerbread update, but it is presumed those app would be ditched from HTC Sense. So there you go Desire owners hopefully you’ll start seeing Gingerbread hit your Android device next week.
