Nokia Windows Phone 7: Launch in Europe First But Not Home Turf

Nokia and Microsoft made a bit of a big thing about Nokia choosing Windows Phone over Android, so when it comes to launching their first Windows Phone 7 Nokia branded handset one would have though the venture would have also done so on a grand scale and include Nokia’s home turf, but apparently not.

According to an article over on Engadget by way of WMPoweruser, All About Phones is reporting that during the Mobile Telecompaper Conference 2011, Nokia Europe VP Victor Saeijs told attendees that Nokia will launch their first Windows Phone 7 device in six European countries.

The six European nations to see the first Nokia Windows Phone handset will be the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, and that the first WP7 device from Nokia will launch sometime this year.

Strangely enough though Nokia’s home turf of Finland will not e amongst the first six countries to be graced with the first Nokia branded Windows Phone 7 smartphone for some reason; having said that, not doubt if the first handset does well in those 6 initial countries it’s probably a sure fire bet Nokia and Microsoft will push out worldwide as quickly as possible.
