iPhone 5 Potentially Attracting Users From Android?

There will always be the Apple faithful on one side and the Android faithful on the other, both having an allegiance to their preferred platform, with one side always claiming their platform is better than the other and visa versa; however, apparently some of the Android faithful are apparently looking to abandon Android in favour of iOS and the iPhone 5.

According to an article over on Beatweek, as the possibly rumoured release date, and I stress possible, gets closer there is apparently evidence that a percentage of Android users are looking to switch to Apple’s new iPhone.

Apparently this assumption of a mass exodus from Android is based on how many Android users have been online searching the term “iPhone 5 release date” and apparently on the 29th of June they saw thousands of users hit their site with that search term using and Android web browser.

Thus the article says that Android users aren’t just searching for the iPhone 5 release date so they can jump on the iOS bandwagon, they are doing so via an Android phone.
So said article has come up with a few reasons as to why Android users would want to make the jump to the Apple platform, with the first being they originally purchased and Android handset because their carrier didn’t offer the iPhone.

Another reason they claim is when the user when into a tore to purchase an iPhone the salesperson “coerced” them into purchasing an Android based device by “telling every lie under the sun.”

The next reason is because they say the user is a cheapskate and didn’t want to pay the price of an iPhone so picked up a cheaper or even free Android smartphone, and so will switch to the iPhone 5 if the handset is cheap enough.

Lastly the article claims that people took up the Android platform over iOS because it is hack-able and say “they call it open,” and since owning an Android device the novelty of having to program the device yourself has worn off and are now ready to swap their “geeky toy” for a practical iPhone.

Well I mean really, come on, if the website that ran this article isn’t Apple fanboy based I don’t know what is. Talk about bias towards Apple and the iPhone, which is quite apparent when accusing Android users of not really knowing what they wanted in the first place, and easy swayed by salespeople.

So here’s a call out to any of our Android users out there, will you be swapping your Android smartphone for the iPhone 5 and if so why? Feel free to voice your opinions to our comments area below.

That Beatweek article is useless, full of conjecture and obvious Apple fanboyism without a shread of actual statistical data to back any of its wild claims. It’s pathetic if that passes as journalism today.

  2. No, not even an err flat out NO!

iPhone’s are a top piece of hardware BUT iTunes & iOS are pretty pants software, locked down and inflexible

So no thanks to the iPhone 5 and its exact same features as the iPhone 4 [which it will have] bar the dual core processor

wow. apple fanboys make me mad. i mean really they are going to make claims that android phones are second rate and a cheaper alternative to an iphone. any android user knows thats not true. personally i had the choose of a free new iphone or pay for the droid 2 global, guess which one i picked lol. that proves that you could not give me an iphone lol.

  4. I’m a 3GS user who is considering going Android having come out of a 2 year contract with no new iPhone and having seen Android come on leaps and bounds in those 2 years…HTC Sensation wows me, particularly with the Widgets and customisability, rather than a boring list of icons.

  5. I agree with Scott here..Android lovers are those who will love the autonomy of an Android phone..there is no way in hell they are going to miss out on the millions of apps that are shared in the Android community…

  6. Nice of beatweek to turn off comments too :). I don’t blame people for being turned off Android as they used low end devices like Moto Backflip as devices like that would make anyone angry.

Well, i’m an iPhone 4 user and i’m thinking about moving to android and the only thing keeping me from doing that is the huge list of manufacturers that i find it hard to decide which one to go with. I think i’ll make the move when the next nexus is released.

Anyway, the truth is that apple has made some improvements over the years to their iPhone while keeping it almost the same and ignorant people go on singing about how improved the new iphone is, get real people it’s the same iphone and they are draining your pockets.

The news that iphone 5 will not support 4G LTE is just an evidence that apple is so ignorant and don’t care about their customers as much as they care about making money.

Android is moving fast in a way that makes apple struggle to keep up with. Apple need something extraordinary just to be close to android.

If people just take a moment to take an unbiased look at the 2 OS, the answer is clear

  8. No. If I do switch platforms it will be to a WP7 device. I highly enjoy being able to just swap ROMs whenever I want for that “new” feeling when I get bored…but since Microsoft decided to stop making Zunes, I have no other real option if I want to stay with the Zune Subscription.

  9. So I had the iPhone 2g, then the 3g, then jumped ship over to sprint with a samsung andriod phone, I was impressed at first… Then it came time to get our updates for the andriod platform, waited months then dumped sprint, for verizon thought I would give another brand of phone still on andriod platform. I went with HTC thunderbolt, again very very impressed with the LTE network then my phone starts to reboot randomly. Seriously the most annoying thing ever!!! The thing I miss about the iPhone updates much more often, and andriod phone are retarded, each andriod phone has to be specifically designed around that phone and the network the phone is on. Epic fail lol. So at the end of the day I will be going back to the iPhone 5, even if its not on a LTE network.
