Gingerbread & Froyo Love: Viewsonic Viewpad 4 & Dual-SIM V350

Two new smartphones are coming to the market via Viewsonic next week. These devices are called the Viewsonic Viewpad 4, which is a smartphone and tablet, and then there is the Viewsonic V350.

These phones come fully loaded with goodness, the Viewsonic V350 will feature Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, whereas the Viewpad 4 will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Let’s start with the new Viewsonic V350 smartphone, the main features here include a 3.5-inch display, dual-SIM where both SIM cards are active all the time, the operating system is Android 2.2 Froyo, HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) capacitive touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.1, Assisted GPS navigation, microSD card slot for up to 32GB, 5-megapixel camera featuring auto focus and WiFi. This handset is going to be priced at about Rs 17,000 according to Mobile Indian.

The next device is called the ViewPad 4, which will feature Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, 4.1-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, Flash 10.1 enabled, will offer both smartphone and tablet usage, it also features Qualcomm MSM 8255 1 GHz platform, mini HDMI 720p display output, supports HD 720p video recording, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, comes with a front-facing camera for video calling and Bluetooth 2.1.

The Viewsonic ViewPad 4 also boasts the new ViewScene UI that integrates GPS with apps; the price tag of this device is expected to be around Rs 20,000.

Both the Viewsonic Viewpad 4 & Dual-SIM V350 will offer users up to eight customisable home screens, and the new 3D interface, and both smartphones will be available via Reliance Digital outlets.

If we had the choice to pick one of the above smartphones, we would have to go with the more powerful Viewpad 4 seeing as it is a smartphone and tablet in one housing, and of course it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. For a full review we suggest CNET, they say the smartphone is good because it uses two SIM cards at the same time, and that it runs Android 2.2 (Froyo), but on the bad side of things the build quality is a little shoddy and the processor is not very powerful.
