Droid Bionic and Photon 4G Arguable Similarities: Your Views

The Droid Bionic by Motorola is getting a lot of attention of late, and it is this device that is releasing on Verizon in August that is turning heads as it is apparently supposed to be the best yet. It has not released yet due to Verizon getting it to work with 4G LTE properly, the question is “Is the Droid Bionic just as good as the Sprint Photon 4G?”

Could the Droid Bionic and Photon 4G with ‘Arguable Similarities’ annoy a few customers? Droid-Life has had a little fiddle with the Photon 4G training guide, they seem to think that there is not a lot of difference between the Photon and the Bionic other than its looks, price and processor departments.

If the Motorola Droid Bionic runs OMAP4 dual-core processor and sells for around $299 on-contract, can it be that much better than the Sprint Photon 4G. The specs are similar with 8-megapixel cameras and a front-facing VGA camera apparently 2MP, screen sizes at 4.3-inch even though some have suggested 4.5-inch even though this size is not likely, both have HDMI-out, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 4G, and the latest version of Blur.

The specs on the Droid Bionic with Verizon and the Photon 4G with Sprint does not differ that much, both are impressive of the specification front, but one of the other needs something special and personally we can see the Droid Bionic by Motorola winning here, we are sometimes wrong but sales will do very well here.

Whilst on the subject of Droid Bionic, someone by the name of barczakmark, has created a stunning Droid Bionic boot animation (Video Below). You can also get other resolution videos here (480×854 | 540×960), if you would like this boot animation just pop the .zip onto your SD card then open the ROM Manager and reboot into recovery, once this is done install zip from SD card and choose the .zip. and then run. Please let us know if the Motorola Droid Bionic or the Photon 4G is for you, by letting us know in the commenting area provided below will allow us to know if we get more Verizon or Sprint readers, thanks. Both of the smartphones are impressive, just a shame these handsets are not coming to the UK, really would like to get my hands on the Motorola Droid Bionic just to test it.

  1. Sprint’s 4G network (wimax) is a joke. Sprint now plans on building a $G LTE network to keep up with Verizon and AT&T but only Verizon currently offers 4G LTE service. That plus the Photon is smaller than the Bionic and the big problem with both of these phones is they have pentile matrix displays. If the Bionic turns out to be the only dual core 4G LTE phone out there and it doesn’t have major issues, I will get one. Otherwise I will probably get a Galaxt S II.
