HTC EVO 3D Ditched By Vodafone

For those Android faithful that may be hoping to snap up the HTC EVO 3D in the United Kingdom from Vodafone UK, it appears that your hopes have now been dashed, as the word is Vodafone has now confirmed they will not be offering the HTC EVO 3D to UK customers.

According to the guys over at Android Community they spoke to a Vodafone spokesperson and were informed that the UK carrier has decided against offering the glasses free Android device “due to delays to the launch of the device.”

Because of those launch delays and given the devices Vodafone currently offers along with devices in the pipeline, Vidafone feels the HTC EVO 3D is no longer required.

Apparently any Vodafone customer that has pre-registered their interest in the HTC EVO 3D will be contacted with an explanation as to why the carrier will not be offering the smartphone.

Apparently the spokesperson for Vodafone said, “We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2, with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline, and we’ll continue to focus on bringing the latest and greatest smartphones to Vodafone customers.”

Furthermore apparently Vodafone has already removed all trace of the HTC EVO 3D handset from their website including their coming soon page.

Spec wise the HTC EVO 3D offers a 4.3-inch qHD touch screen, dual 5 megapixel cameras with 720p HD video and a 1.3 megpixel front facing camera, 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual core processor, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS , 1GB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 32GB and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So it appears that anyone who was of a mind to grab the HTC EVO 3D from Vodafone is in for a disappointment, and this means that Vodafone doesn’t offer any smartphone with 3D capability, so one does have to wonder just what the devices Vodafone has in the pipeline.

Thus for those in the UK who still want the HTC EVO 3D it would appear that your only option is to pick up the handset as an unlocked device from the likes of Amazon UK who are currently offering the HTC EVO 3D SIM Free for £499.99, or you could pre-order the smartphone SIM free from eXpansys although the asking price is not yet available.
