Droid Bionic Release Date Now Early September

What is it with Verizon bound smartphones these days and elongated release delays, what with the Motorola Droid Bionic now in the same realms of delay the likes of the HTC Thunderbolt saw. For some time now the rumour has been that the Droid Bionic would possibly surface on or about the 4th of August, however it appears that this will not be the case.

Despite my colleague Mark’s article of yesterday claiming that actual stock of the Motorola Droid Bionic arriving on the 1st of August for a release on the 4th, according to the guys over on Droid-life, said date is now wrong, and the Android handset will not be arriving in August.

However the guys do say that if the Motorola Droid Bionic does show up on Thursday that all good and well but it is looking highly unlikely as they received a report along with the image below that Motorola representatives are telling Verizon people that they should expect the Droid Bionic “early September.”

As for that proposed “early September” release date; the guys are hearing the actual day could possibly be September the 1st.

Of course nothing has been officially confirmed with the Droid Bionic release date so it’s still firmly in the land of possibly, could be, might be rumours, and we wont know for definite until such times as Motorola and Verizon put their stamp of approval and officially make an announcement.

According to the guys though, their source has said that potential purchasers of the Motorola Droid Bionic can expect the device to have the same screen as the Motorola Droid 3 and the Motorola Droid X2 and apparently has “far less ghosting.”

According to the source, the Droid Bionic is also a lot lighter and more responsive than first thought, and the guys reckon that’s down to the new sleek design and extra RAM.

Have to say thought that the Motorola Droid Bionic has been quite some time arriving, and if that “early September” release date is spot on then it will put the release pretty close to the expected release of the iPhone 5, which no doubt would mean heavier release time competition for the Droid Bionic.

So if you were originally awaiting the Motorola Droid Bionic, are you still waiting or have you changed your mind on the handset and opted to go for something else, perhaps you have decided to wait a little longer and grab the iPhone 5 instead, if so feel free to let us know by dropping us a comment below.

  1. It seems to me that NOBODY knows anything about when it’s coming out. One group says one day another says something different and then they all change their minds! I’m waiting for the phone and when it comes out it comes out but I won’t be opting for the iPhone 5 simply because I refuse to own anything by Apple (I’m sure somebody will have something to say about that but I don’t give a rats a$$). Regardless, every other article about the Bionic is “It’s not coming out this date it’s coming out this date” and that in it’s self is getting pretty annoying.

If this is pushed back until September, I’m getting the Function (Galaxy S2) on Aug 12 along with the other several hundred thousand people that have been patiently waiting for a dual core LTE phone.

Probably several hundred thousand at this point. I can’t imagine why anyone would wait any longer for the Bionic once the S2 comes out.

At this point I am going to wait to see what else is arriving is September. I’m over the excitement about the Bionic, I’m going to see who else wants my 300 dollars.

I’ve been patiently waiting and following the Droid Bionic since at least April. I am all for Android and Motorola (I had Droid 1 and it broke in May knowing my contract was up in June, so I waited…very, very patiently with an LG Venus phone) but if this is how Motorola wants to do their business, I’m going to have to move on the the Iphone 5 and add it to my Mac products. I’m very disappointed in Motorola. It’s like a gorgeous female that just leads you on. After a while, she turns you off.

    1. If you give on on Bionic, get Galaxy S II, not iPhone 5. GS II has very similar specs to Bionic and a better screen. Both Bionic and GS II will probably be much better than iPhone 4s/iPhone 5. At this point, I wouldn’t even consider getting a non-LTE phone and there’s a good chance the iPhone released this fall will not be.

  9. Really, that picture is so blurry that you can’t tell what phone it is. Where is the metal rim as seen in the amazon pictures? Where is the report that supposedly Droid-Life received claiming a September release?

Any excitement for release Motorola percieved or planned for the Bionic has now turned into frustration and indifference. The fact that this once great company can not even communicate with it’s current and potential customers is quite disappointing. I for one will NOT wait for September.

By the time this phone comes out it will be 2nd rate and no one will notice. GS II Augest 12th? Totally gonna jump the bionic boat if these rumors are true

I am thrilled iPhone and the Bionic are both coming out at the same time. It will give me a chance to compare the two and then I will purchase the one with the best features and LONGER BATTERY LIFE. I hear the iPhone’s greatest new feature is WIRELESS CHARGING! Wow, that solves so many problems for me! Both will be excellent phones no doubt. I am excited as I have waited so long for the iPhone to finally get to to Verizon and I wanted to wait for the 4G phone. I will have some decisions to make.

I think the next iPhone 4G is certainly one I want too!

  13. fake picture, clearly it shows that the bionic above only has 5 changeable screens, when clearly spoken to motorola HQ that the bionic will be providing 7 homescreens not the 5 seen above.
