BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 Heading For India in August

For the BlackBerry faithful over in India who may have been awaiting news that the thinnest BlackBerry smartphone to come out of the Research In Motion camp will be gracing the shores of India, you might like to hear that the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 will indeed be heading for India in the not too distant future.

According to an article over on Techtree, BlackBerry OS 7 sporting BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 will be coming to play in India as of the second week of this month, no doubt hoping to snatch back some of that lost global market share BlackBerry has been losing recently.

Spec wise for those that just might be interested in picking up the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 when it releases in India, the smartphone packs 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen along with a QWERTY keyboard, a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with 720p video, 1.2 GHz processor, A-GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 8GB storage and microSD expansion up to 32GB and a 3.5mm jack.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 also features enhanced voice activated universal search, and Near Field Communication (NFC), however according to the article they do say that it will take some time for NFC to be implemented in India.

Furthermore the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 is apparently one of seven new BlackBerry smartphones that will be released in India in the not too distant future although the article doesn’t state what other devices will eventually become available to Indian customers.

Now down to the nitty-gritty of what customers in India can expect to have to shell out for the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 sometime this month if they want the handset, apparently the Research In Motion plans on offering the BlackBerry Bold 9900 with a one and a half year warranty and commands a price tag of under Rs. 32,500, which it has to be said is kind of pricey for most.

But if you are in India and have been considering picking up the BlackBerry device, perhaps a review video of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 might make your decision a little easier, so we have embedded one for your viewing pleasure below courtesy of Phones4U, so head on down and mash that play button to check out the footage…enjoy.

Of course the big question is as RIM have basically been losing hand over foot in the mobile space recently to their rivals such as the iPhone and Android handset, can the BlackBerry Bold 9900 drag back some of their former glory, I guess only time will tell.
