Android Gingerbread Update for HTC Thunderbolt in Q3

Well now for those over in the good old US of A who own the HTC Thunderbolt, you have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for some time now, with the update expected to hit on the 30th of June, which of cause never materialised, but fear not it is apparently on its way.

According to an article over on Droid-life they have received word from a reader that contacted HTC over concerns with his device and an HTC rep responded and also gave word on when to expect the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

So here’s what that HTC rep apparently relayed to said reader…”We will certainly pass along your concerns to the developers at HTC. We are working hard to address the issues you have mentioned with future updates for the device. We are excited to announce that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update in Q3 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability.”

Thus as we are currently in Q3 the guys say HTC Thunderbolt owner with Verizon can expect to see the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update rolled out to their smartphones sometime in the next eight weeks.

So there you have it, eight weeks isn’t that long to wait really, as some have waited a great deal longer, although of course it could be longer if there are any further issues with delivering the Gingerbread update, so lets hope there isn’t.

As you probably know, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will bring to the HTC Thunderbolt A-GPS functionality along with a new HTC Sense user interface, the Amazon Appstore and of course Skype video along with numerous other enhancements, so perhaps the wait is well worth it.

At this stage of the game, seeing is believing and until I see it, have it , hold it, try it… I don’t believe it.

At ususal, with Verizon, always a bride’s maid, never a bride
