HTC Event Sept 1st: Honeycomb Puccini Tablet Coming?

Phones Review Quickie: Well now apparently HTC has an event scheduled for September the 1st and the smartphone and tablet maker has been sending out invites to the occasion, however the invitation doesn’t actually let anyone know just what HTC has up its sleeve for the event, and they are not saying either.

According to an article over on Phandroid by way of German website, Mobilfunk, the speculation is that the event could see the first Android Honeycomb tablet out of the HTC stable, the HTC Puccini get unveiled.

As for specs of the HTC Puccini, word is the Android slate will be of the 10-inch variety and sport and 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, front facing camera of some description, HTC Scribe and run Android Honeycomb, although which version is still unknown, and support LTE.

Last rumour on the HTC Puccini was that the tablet would come out to play sometime this month, but it’s looking more likely that HTC will unveil the Android slate on the 1st of September at their event, although even that is pure guesswork as HTC is playing things close to their chest.

Of course the biggest challenge to the HTC Puccini is naturally the Apple iPad 2 and whether the Puccini can grab enough attention to challenge Apple’s iOS slate. Having said that if the rumour is true that the Puccini will indeed come out toplay packing 4G LTE functionality then perhaps it is the tablet to take on the iPad, only time will tell.

So anyone in the market for an LTE capable Android Honeycomb tablet perhaps the HTC Puccini will be the one for you once it finally makes an appearance and all the specs are confirmed and the price comes to light that is.
